oncoming shift. all done safely and smoothly with quality results.

Accomplishments

One of the first operators to work on controlled substances, tried to be an example to new hires. Kept my eyes

open to all safety conditions. Tried not to get in trouble

Piledriver Bridge Builder Journeyman, Foreman

Worked out of Local 34 - Oakland, CA - May 1985 to April 2013

Responsibilities

Built from the ground up all types of infrastructure, including bridges, overpasses, docks, culverts, treatment

plants, dams and highways. Served a 4 year apprenticeship in classes learning welding, blueprint reading,

safety, and all aspects of a construction site,

Accomplishments

First female foreman out of Local 34, I proved myself as First responder to the collapse of Nimitz freeway

in the 1989 earthquake. Then returned as foreman to rebuild the Cypress freeway. Ahead of schedule and

successful in the team to make our job a complete and lucrative venture.

Skills Used

Listening, learning, tool safety, and everything needed to be a successful Construction worker. Trained and

mentored new hires, especially females, as they were a new requirement and it wasn't common when I first

started in the trades

Carpenter Instructor

Folsom State Prison - Represa, CA - August 2006 to January 2008

Responsibilities

Helped to create a successful, progressive apprentice program for inmates to reduce recidivism. Trained to use

power and hand tools, safe work practice, construction math and tracked progress.Effort to control recidivism

in our program by preparing inmates to be successful citizens

Safety Officer

CC MYERS INC. - Rancho Cordov CA - February 2006 to July 2006

Responsibilities

While attending continuos training was responsible for all Northern California job sites. Developed first

company wide JHA catalog and training and brought job sites into compliance while Cal Osha was breathing

down our.necks because of previous fatal accidents. Conducted tail gate meeting and provided unique topics

that got the crews involved. Audits, orientations for new employees and pre employment and post accident

drug testing. Jobsite training and notifying neighbors of activity planned well ahead of circumstances. Daily

reports and weekly reports to company safety commitee.

Accomplishments

I was a worker first and that helped me get respect and help from the crews and foreman. I was able to explain

piledriving incidents to executive commitee as they had just started driving their own pilings. Developed a

series of training films that had the workers involved with filming, not to embarass but they felt more invokved

and therefore a part of the team.

Skills Used

I used my extensive experience in the business and was able to relate to workers and management in a way

the was not confronting. Brought all sand blasting equipment into the safe zone, as most had never been

calipered or maintained, fall protection was also completely restored to safe and in compliance with codes.

At the time there were a huge amount of osha involvment and I was a strong tour guide and serious about

getting this company to see that the old ways needed to be overhauled. I have the ability to think fast on my

feet and the drive to see everyone go home safely.

Apprenticeship Coordinator

Northern California Apprenticeship Commitee - Fairfeild Ca - January 1999 to September 2003

Responsibilities

As a coordinator I mentored, monititored, and discpline for 300 apprentices. Also due to a court order we

needed to recruit 15% females. I almost single handed acheived this number brought up from 2 % by searching

and expkaining the benefits of union work. Went to every county and help educate the opportunities involved.

Inducted and completed paperwork up to state standards. Job visits, counseling and hands on training on a

daily basis. Conducted JATC meetings, using Roberts Rules and advised on discipline. Dealt with 7 union

and many agents, once again a challenge as a female which was not a very accepted idea in those early days

Accomplishments

Managed to bring the female count to 15% from the high of 2% therrfore lifting the court orders to allow a

more open program . Acheived the trust of many people that to this day thank me for my help to be successful

apprentices. Worked without any back up from other coorfinators who did not want a female in their circle,

proving that I could get the enthusiasm and respect of apprentices and coworkers alike.

Skills Used

Power Point Presentations, Public Speaking,Conducted Infirmation Meetings with up to 150 people and being

able to induct thise people single handed with little or no mistakes. Telephine skills because I called the

inductees at least once a week check ins. Progress checks on all apprentices, and working with employers

to acheive good matches for each company. Ability to work with some of the grumpiest and set in their ways

dinosaurs that were running this program for as long as it was in active training. Desseminated Safety Classes

and any other training where I was needed. Completed all training classes such as leadership and follow up .

Was successful in the lifting of a long standing court order that crippled the program

As.a safety representative for CC. MYERS, developed all JHA reports company wide. Very creative training

and developing films that are job specific. Able to speak to large crowds and encouraging input. Relate to all

trades and managers by dessiminating real information. Believe that a program to be proactive and correct

problems without being stuck in a blame game- just find and correct in all ways. Engineering, operating and

natural causes are all part of a successful program.
