Machining Process Engineer

05/2014 To Present ZF Transmission Grey Court, SC

On call 24/7. Overseeing all production process issues and CNC issues on the shop floor for day to day production needs which include but not limited to CNC tooling, CNC programming changes, Work Instructions, Test Instruction and making sure all gages are calibrated and up to date. Lead all process improvements for my department. Preform Quality audits in my department for any LPA and process issues. I have KUKA Robot programming and expert operator training. Siemens PLC Level 1 programming and HMI troubleshooting training. I set up our own in house ECM fixture rebuild area which is projected to cut cost at around $1.7 Million the first year. Ordering new machines and shop floor tooling for my department. Going to new machine run offs to approve the machine before delivery. Overseeing all new tooling and fixtures before delivery. Working hand in hand with my Tooling vendors, automation vendors and machine builders to keep up with production goals. Tracking and keeping accurate inventory of spare/wear parts for production needs for my department. In process of setting up 2 more production lines for my area including making sure the machine delivery dates are on track with production needs. Plant layout for new lines and scheduling machine riggers for the installation of the new lines to meet production needs.

07/2013 Production Supervisor ZF Transmission

Oversee production goals are met on a daily bases, I-Lead training, Oversee all employees are working in a safe manner, Oversee all TMP and maintenance are up to date on all production machines. Do employees payroll. Schedule vacation request to make sure it does not conflict with production needs. Employee evaluations/reviews. Schedule and tracking all production for my area for all 3 shifts to meet assembly needs. Daily morning meetings with my maintenance and Engineering group to make sure they are on task with production needs. Keeping up with employee Head count for production needs for all shifts. Keeping department budget up to date and under the expected budget goal for my department. Ordering all operators tooling needed for department. Weekly LPA audits on different cells of my lines. 11/2000-07/2013 Sauer Dan-Foss/KP Components Easley, SC

2000 - Started as a Machine Operator (involving: loading/unloading CNC Machines such as Makino, Mazak, Toyoda and Mori; Inspect parts with various types of gages such as calipers, depth gages, thread gages, go/no go gages and mics; tool changes such as face mills, drills, taps, form-tools, thread mills; off-set changes on all tools). Kept up with daily production goals for the parts I was running. Doing SPC and all daily TMP on machines.

2002 – Promoted to Machine Set up Tech – I handled all edit moves for my CNC’s. I was a master trainer when it came to new employees being trained on the CNC machines. I preform quality audits for all production. I preform all CNC program edits and troubleshooting any tooling issues or process issues. I done all set up’s on the CNC machines which involved changing tooling, uploading new programs, downloading programs, changing fixture and pallets and running off first parts to make sure they were in print spec before turning the machine over to the operator. I lead the TMP for all shifts and handled any machine maintenance issues.

2004 – Promoted to Shift Lead/Supervisor (involving: production scheduling of all shifts; program trouble shooting; helped with employee supervision of 18 employees; Quality control; was part of the kick off for “Zero D” for Quality control; Help implement and set into place 5S; Tool management; Controlled TPM task for all CNC machines; prove out new programs; CNC tooling inventory; Managed Robo Crib tooling: Kept up with day to day process trouble shooting by working close with my engineers and giving out tasks as they came up. I also filled in for an Engineer when they were out.

2007 I started doing more on the Engineer side of the shop floor. I started focusing more on new program prove outs, day to day production issues and cutting my tooling cost by the reduction of cycle time and new tooling desgin. I was working hand to hand with my current Engineers and tooling vendors on upgrading some of our current tooling and even looking for new tooling vendors to cut cost and cycle times.

2010 – Promoted to Manufacturing Engineer for machining (involving but not limited to: G-Code, M-Code and Macro-B programming of all CNC Machines for my 2 product lines; programming all new prototype parts; successfully implemented cycle time reductions with new tooling and going through older programs and taking out none needed movements; successfully lowered tool costs by maintaining an accurate tooling inventory; Place orders for all current and new tooling to keep up with production demands which meant working hand and hand with all my tooling vendors to make sure no tooling shipment delays; New tooling design to help with production needs to cut cycle time and cost; Making new work instruction for any new parts or process for my department; Oversee any and all of my department’s process and day to day trouble shooting for my 9 Makino and 7 Mazak CNC machines.
