Software Control Solutions (Software Engineer) Melbourne, Florida (2014 – 2015)
Focused on the development of embedded control systems for the space, defense and medical device industries.
Experience creating custom Linux images using Yocto project and BitBake. Developed kernel modules and library
modules to be inserted into these images. One specific image used was Angrstom.
Experience using CMake and cross compiling between Linux and Gumstix Overo.
Implemented forward error correction codes. For a particular project with specific hardware, Reed Solomon codes
were chosen due to being able to handle burst and singleton errors. RS also offered more than sufficient
protection against expected and tested Bit Error Rate, utilizing minimal parity bytes.
Implemented public domain AES-256 encryption using OpenSSL library.
Created UML, use case, sequence, and class diagrams using Enterprise Architect. This allowed for clear design
plans that lead to faster development of projects.
Experience using Subversion and GitHub for version control.
Provided maintenance on legacy code and added new features. Replaced legacy C shell scripts with Bash scripts.
Wrote documentation on how to use new features . Worked on bug fixes and wrote scripts for regression testing.

Senior Design Project (2013-2014): Part of a team that developed a solar powered autonomous boat that measures

Implemented autonomous functionality through use of an onboard GPS module. The boat would

periodically compare its current location to the user-specified location and adjust the rudder accordingly.
Assisted with the integration of sensor data acquisition and wireless transmission code.
