ACADEMIC PROJECTS & TRAININGS

> Research on "Variation in lipid profile after exercise" under Dr. Rajan

Thakur, Clinical Biochemist, Director of Biodiagnostika.

Importance of weight loss and lifestyle modification in modifying

lipid profile was established. Tests like stress tests showed some

alteration in TC,TG,HDL and LDL. The reduction was minimal but it indicate

that continued vigorous exercise will lead to reduction in lipid

abnormality. My finding indicated the beneficial trend of exercise, which

showed the TG level going down considerably. This effect was appreciably

apparent among diabetics.

Indian Dyslipidemia (abnormal lipid profile) primarily includes high TG

and low LDL. Therefore, exercise is mandatory in management of

Dyslipidemia. The raised TG in diabetic world lowered after treadmill test.

It was thus concluded that vigorous exercise plays an important role in

management of lipid abnormality and it should be regularly practiced in

diabetic patients.

> Thesis on "Survey on the types of Anaemia prevalent among female patients

attending P.M.C.H" under guidance of Dr. Manorama Mishra, Head of the

Deptt. of Pathology, Medical College and hospital,Patna.

It was carried in some female patients and observations were done.

Anaemia tests like estimation of Haemoglobin(Hb),PCV,MCV,MCH and

MCHC were performed to co-relate the observation. The observations

were also recorded in tabular form to get the idea of exact changes and

to deduce facts easily.

> Thesis on the topic "Effect of Nimesulide on Mice" under Dr. Nidhi

Rastogi, Faculty, Patna Women's College, Patna.

My finding on the topic was that nimesulide, even when used for a short

period is capable of altering liver and kidney functions. The level of

SGOT,SGPT,Alkaline phosphate and serum creatinine shows a marked

increase from its normal level, thereby suggesting that it has a

deleterious effect on the liver and kidney. However, further studies are

still required to establish that nimesulide is hepato-toxic and cause

renal failure even when taken in small doses. The study suggest that

prudence use of nimesulide is important. Self-medication should be

avoided and doctor must be consulted before taking this medicine.
