SUMMARY

My experience with the utilities business covers 35 years of working with a public utility, or

working with equipment suppliers – from relays to test equipment; also programs involving

automated testing or relay settings, SKM, Aspen, SEL programs and General Electric programs.

I became substation foreman, running my own crew within five years; possessing exceptional

trouble shooting skills and developing training for new technicians; familiar with microprocessor

relays. I was successful in assisting with test equipment sales and assisting customers to utilize

equipment at satellite offices. I am also skilled in addressing large groups and proficient on SEL

software and the testing of SEL products, which eventuated in many customer contacts in the

utility industry.

Provided training and assisted with the introduction of the 4000 series relays to customers;

assisted with establishing testing as a function in our application engineering group.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Manager of Application Engineers

ERL Phase Power Technologies - Winnipeg, MB - December 2011 to October 2013

Established a home-based office - Provided testing training for application engineers, validate all

new products (Relays and Fault Recorders) supply input for features in all new products;

schedule customer visits and demos.

System Protection Engineer

GST Power service group - Fort Collins, CO - January 2009 to December 2012

Worked with owner on job bids and modified three lines, and control schematics for job

contracts to replace panels with microprocessor relays. Performed Arc Flash studies for ADM

plants we supported. Performed relay settings for ADM. Wrote test plans for our field techs.

MEGGER Tech. Service Group Testing Tech

MEGGER- Dallas, TX - April 2002 to January 2008

Develop test plans for SEL products and GE WH electro mechanical relays.

Demonstrate MEGGER (sales calls) relay test equipment and put on demonstrations at customer

sites; conducted telephone support in office for MEGGER relay testing software.

Application Tech

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratory - Oklahoma City, OK - May 1999 to April 2002

Learn all products and provide tech support for all customers, occasional travel and supply

training to customer where needed; responsible for setup of a satellite office in Oklahoma City,

also supporting former OG&E customer.

Job planning and scheduling; supervised 12 relay techs; also responsible for training new techs.

Relay Technician

Tested and repaired GE and WH electrical mechanical relays over current, transformer

differential relays, distance relays for the transmission system; performed commissioning tests

on all new service equipment.

Performed all substation control and acquisition testing (scada); performed operation tripping

test and reclosing test; took in service readings and checked load flow.
