Small Learning Communities Grant

Project Manager

• Conducted all project management activities necessary for the school to successfully implement the

selected strategies and achieve the performance and success described in this grant proposal. Activities

included preparing and progressing project schedules, managing the project budget and resource

expenditures.

• Monitoring implementation of professional development activities, deployment of learning and teaching

strategies, and working with each SLC and PLC team leaders and/or teams to reach high levels of

performance.

• Provided reports of progress to the school principal, district superintendent, and the Project Director.

Reports included progress against the schedule, implementation issues or barriers, and recommended

action to remove barriers or resolve issues.

• Acted on the school principal's behalf in approving expenditures associated with this grant, making

decisions required to resolve implementation issues, and represent the best interests of the students

involved in this project.

• Established and implemented a school wide and district communication plan to ensure all students,

teachers, and stakeholders are aware of the goals, strategies and progress of the project.

• Coordinated attendance of teachers and administrators at the designated professional development or

training activities, coordinate logistics for off-site training, and maintain a tracking system to ensure all

teachers are properly trained or coached in the teaching and learning strategies of the project.

• Met with the administrators of the school on a regular, periodic basis to ensure integration of the project

into the overall planning and management of the school.

• Created a collaborative team of faculty members that implemented an all Inclusive Freshman Academy

for the 2009-2010 school year.

• Created a faculty committee dedicated to implementing the International Center for Leadership in

Education's Quadrant D learning and Rigor Relevance and Relationship to our faculty,

• Planned and implemented a Sophomore Academy that helps students who struggle while providing

career exploration opportunities, and an emphasis on 21" century learning skills.

• Developed a Bridges Program to motivate and provide valuable study skills to our most at risk 8 th

graders. The program is mandatory to progress from the 8 th grade to the 9th and takes place the summer

between the 8th and 9th grade.

• Created and lead the development of Jr/Sr Houses that will focus on raising rigor in the classroom,

making sure that all students are on pace to graduate, and an emphasis on total integration of seven 21"

century learning criteria that culminates in a Senior Capstone project.

• Implementation of the USDOE Smaller learning Community grant under my leadership earned

Lowell High School Indiana 4 star school distinction, the first in Tri Creek School Corporation

history in 2009-2010. We also have been selected as Indiana Chamber of Commerce best buy in

Education for several years running.
