Concordia University, Montreal, Canada 2013 -

2014

Design of a twin spool turbofan engine (Pratt & Whitney Canada)

Performed detailed cycle analysis to establish the design points

Based on the engine operating points, performed detailed design of the high pressure compressor

and high pressure turbine. Also established the turbine van and blade geometries using CATIA V5

Also performed the off-design operation analysis and design tradeoff studies

Analysis of chimney vibrations due to vortex shedding

Carried out the CFD and modal analysis of the chimney using ANSYS workbench

From the analysis results calculated the strouhal number and the air speed corresponding to

resonance

CO2 emissions in cement manufacturing

Detailed analysis of various sources of CO 2 emissions involved in cement production was

performed and various mitigation strategies were reviewed

A Matlab code was developed to calculate the total emissions and percentage reduction in CO 2

emissions for various types of cement manufacturing facilities and emission reduction techniques
