Project Title : STAR-HEALTH Insurance

Client : SATR-HEALTH,Chennai.

Duration : Aug 2013 to Till date.

Role : ETL Developer

Environment : IBM Information Server v9.1, Oracle 10g.

Description:

• Star Health and Allied Insurance Co Ltd is a joint venture between Oman Insurance Company UAE,

Leading NRIs and an Indian company being a special purpose vehicle formed by a group of business tycoons.

• In February 2013, Tata Capital invested in Star Health Insurance [2] thereby increasing the company`s

total capital base to 5.49 billion (US$89 million).

• In April 2013,Star Health Insurance became the first Insurance company to launch a specialty policy for

people suffering from Cardiac ailments, Star Cardiac care the one of its kind policy for persons who had

undergone Heart Surgeries(Angioplasty and Bypass).

• The aim of the project is to build a DataMart with the required dimensions and facts to

support the business intelligence system capable of analyzing the policies information and the status of

different claims, etc...

Responsibilities:

• Performed major role in understanding the business requirements and designing and loading the data into data

warehouse (ETL).

• Designed and developed ETL jobs using various stages like Join, Aggregator, Lookup, Transformer,

surrogate key generator, funnel, Sort, Remove Duplicates.

• Involved in resolving Production issues.

• Design the jobs with a SCD Type2 to keep track of historical data.

• Involved in taking regular backup of Datastage jobs.

Project Title : OSU (Ohio State University)

Project description

The Ohio State University (OSU) is a sprawling school with seemingly endless

opportunities for students to get involved. It offers a wide variety of graduate programs

through its highly ranked colleges. A datawarehouse for OSU is built using Ascential

Datastage V 7.5.2 and Oracle 10g Database. The main objective of OSU is now to improve

jobs performance by migrating server jobs with Oracle data to parallel jobs Netezza. The

process involves three steps, running server jobs and populating the target tables in oracle.

Moving all the data (source, staging and target) from oracle to netezza. Running parallel jobs

against the moved source data and loading target tables in a different schema in Netezza.

Validating the data loaded by server jobs and parallel jobs in Netezza

Roles, Responsibilities:

Effectively handling new/change requests from clients by proposing and

implementing cost and effort efficient solutions. Ensuring that all the requests are well

documented and are deployed as per plan.

Using ETL Code review tool primarily to help in the analysis of the jobs.

Understanding the project domain and working of the same.

Successfully migrated jobs for Payroll project from DataStage 7.5 to DataStage 9.1.

Providing technical and functional support for team members involved in the project.

Ensure that the project deliverables adhere to the company guidelines and satisfy the

client with adherence to timelines and quality of code

Designed a run job script that can be used to trigger any number of jobs. Designed

change data capture logic to reduce load time of jobs from 12 hrs. to less than 15

minutes.

Single point of contact for all DataStage support and enhancement activates.

Awarded two “Outperform Award” for exceeding client expectations.

Received numerous appreciations for developing value additions which significantly

increased performance
