The position I held there was a teacher. I was responsible for supervising, evaluating and
training assistant teachers, volunteers, students and encouraging family involvement and
partnership. Also, I selected materials and equipment and arrange the classroom to provide an
environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the developmental and learning style of
the child. My duties also included; supervising children, developing the written individualized
education plan and the weekly lesson plan. Planning, implementing, assessing and evaluating
balanced child development activities based on head start‘s (and creative curriculums) goals and
objectives, provided a safe environment by taking necessary measures to reduce and prevent
accidents and or illness, provided children with a positives routine and with simple rules that
were understood and accepted by children and adults, planned regular conferences with parents
and made home visits, was responsible for the initial ongoing observations, assessments and
recording of each child’s data / behavior, attended ongoing trainings/ professional developments
and workshops as associated with my position as required by the supervisor. I also facilitated a
Family Literacy reading program. The program also provided meals for the families, which was
served in a family style manner. The program was for 3 hours twice a week. We service about
20 families with a small appreciation ceremony at the completion of each session

My responsibilities were to assist families with developing strategies to prevent violence and
substance abuse. I facilitated a researched curriculum, The Creating Lasting Families
Connection, a family enrichment program. Also I recruited and served meals to the families.

Recruitment consisted of going out into the community and explaining the program and also
putting together recruitment packets, the resources that the centered offered youth ages 9 to 17
and their families. I also supervised a book drive, purchased book shelves, developed and
donated a library to a family transitional housing shelter. The library contained several typed of
books for every member of a family--from infancy to self improvement, and everything in
between. The shelter is located on Rutland Ave of Baltimore MD. My salary was $20.00 per
hour.
