Quality Assurance (NCQA), a private, not-for-profit organization committed to assessing, reporting on and improving

the quality of care provided by managed care organizations. Designed to provide purchasers and consumers with the

information they need to reliably compare the performance of managed health care plans. The HEDIS reports are

used by more than 90 percent of America’s health plans and there are more than 60 different measures in HEDIS.

The process involved in generating the HEDIS reports are (i) collecting all the admissions, claims, clinical lab,

pharmacy and mental health data from various sources on various platforms (ii) analyze and separate the eligible

population with denominator and numerator complaint for a specific measure (iii) compare it with the NCQA

benchmarks and provide a rate comparison reports to publish to NCQA

This Project is to develop a Provider Selection Tool which will be used by the members enrolled with CIGNA and help

them to select their Providers based on their profile/ranking. The process involved are to extract the providers who

had any claims during past 24 months timeframe, scrub and clean the providers by their ids and names and try to

match with the Contracted Provider File (CPF) database. The matched provider data will be sent to MVS/SQL Server

where the providers are profiled and ranked and the final output is sent to a Provider Selection Tool (PST). All

databases like Claims, Providers, CPF are stored in DB2 Database, maintained in mainframe systems. Base SAS

Scripts and JCL scripts are used to extract and manipulate the data from DB2 and outputs (as flat files) are generated

and sent back to MVS/SQL Server for further analysis.
