Tasks: Duties are included but are not limited to:
Perform daily concurrent medical records reviews to clarify conditions, diagnoses, and
procedures when conflicting or inadequate documentation is suspected;
Communicate with individual physicians and medical staff departments to facilitate complete
and accurate documentation;
Work closely with coders to assure that the Principal Diagnosis (PDX), the secondary
diagnoses and any co-existing comorbidities accurately reflect the patient's clinical status;
Collaborate with coders and case managers concurrently to ensure correct Diagnosis-Related
Group (DRG) assignment;
Conduct follow-up reviews every two to three days to support and assign a working or final
DRG assignment upon patient discharge;

Provide formal education sessions, conferences and point-of-care clinical documentation
education for physicians, house staff, and allied health professionals;
Educate physicians and key healthcare providers regarding clinical documentation
improvement and the need for accurate and complete documentation in the patient’s record ;
Educate physicians and key healthcare providers regarding the ICD-10 requirements for an
accurate and complete documentation of the patient’s condition;

other educational materials;

Review system demands, forecast system requirements and recommend upgrades;
Troubleshoot and/or interact with IT staff or vendors in testing or fixing issues with the

Replace the CDI Director for certain tasks, and supervise the work of team CDI, in the
