November 1987 - March 1997
Environmental, Safety, Health and Human Resource Manger
QMS Circuits, Inc. was a subsidiary of QMS in Mobile, a laser printers
company. QMS circuits made military and commercial printed circuit boards.
The printed circuit boards were made by bonding a layer of copper over the
entire substrate, sometimes on both sides, (creating a "blank PCB") then
removing unwanted copper after applying a temporary mask (e.g., by
etching), leaving only the desired copper traces. PCBs were made by adding
traces to the bare substrate (or a substrate with a very thin layer of
copper) by a complex process of multiple electroplating steps. Then a
process of silk screen printing was applied with etch-resistant inks to
protect the copper foil. QMS Circuits manufactured double-sided boards and
multi-layer boards by using plated-through holes, to connect traces on
opposite sides of the substrate. The facility had a pre-treatment waste
water plant with a sludge dehydrator to reduce waste output. QMS Circuits,
Inc. was shut down in 1997.
