creative application as well as completing tasks successfully within teams. Guidelines in teaching gave
opportunities for brainstorming and creativity. Learning ways to identify students’ individual needs and
behaviours provided opportunities to adapt to varying learning styles and environments.

Learning the Montessori approach to teaching, equipping myself with the necessary tools to be an excellent
teacher, and then having applied this effective and interactive method in posts, has brought me to understand
education from a child’s perspective.
Visibly more engaging than traditional methods, I saw that children learn best by doing. Having happy children
within a teaching environment immediately forms a positive image to their progression and development.

ESOL Teacher Police College Programme Teaching all levels
Abu Dhabi Police College
A four year roll over programme consisting of teaching various levels ranging from pre beginners to
intermediate level.
Students aged 16 25 years of abilities ranging from no previous English to basic high school English.
This fantastic teaching post put my knowledge and principles into practice from my TESOL course. Seeing
the students develop in class environments and self confidence, in achieving the outcome of becoming
confident in oral and written communication has been rewarding as a TESOL teacher. Being a well respected
and likeable member of staff, I developed a great rapport with students and staff. Throughout the years of
being at ADMC, I was patient in explaining the English language to the individuals within the class and

applied many alternative teaching methods. I adapted the syllabus to cater for the varying needs and abilities
of students. For example, I used visual aids, images, audio and engaged students in group discussion to
practice their English and further build their confidence for their work and social environments.
Preparing creative materials to ensure students would fully engage and understand the English language, I
made sure an element of fun was brought to the lessons. The use of Headway Coursebooks and Workbooks,
Language Leader Coursebooks, Tactics for Listening Books, work alongside my own materials which
strengthened and supported the points taught and gave students extra practice.
I was patient in recognising and attending to all abilities and always went that bit further to ensure the
students’ understanding. I worked well within the teaching team as a strong team player, and produced exams
and work plans based on the course syllabus. Having created listening practice, my worksheets and activities
were successfully implemented into the course, recognised as strong materials by the course leaders
Special Promotions
Helping the students progress with language for their workplace, for example how to write emails and letters,
as well as how to produce and present a presentation, was rewarding. The students were training to gain
promotion to higher ranks and to gain the necessary qualification in the English language. With their writing,
reading and listening improve, I was able to strengthen their skills and equip them with the tools needed for
their jobs.
ADNOC Engineering department
Teaching English to the Engineering students was once again a superb opportunity as I taught classes of
varying levels.
September 2013 to June 2014 Joint Aviation Command (Abu Dhabi)
CERT (Centre of Excellence for Applied Research and Training): IELTS and JAC students:
Pass minimum of 5.5 IELTS to help the students progress to the next level within the military.
Adapting teaching styles as well as catering to students from a wider selection of backgrounds, the JAC
Technical course was such a rewarding post. Being able to balance teaching schedules, marking as well as
producing materials and attending staff meetings and in house courses in Smart boards for example, I was
flexible and adaptable to all situations.
I had opportunities to develop ways of delivering course materials and with the high levels of students
allocated to me, I helped them progress further with their correspondence within the English language.
During the end of year class with one of my JAC groups, the students had organised a special thank you for
me, ‘the best teacher’ as they stated. This was noted by course leaders and teaching staff, to which I was
highly delighted that my strong teaching ethic and nature as an ESOL teacher was recognised throughout.
Teaching all four main skills, I delivered the syllabus and encouraged student participation in the classes.
Helping the students with presentation skills for a Powerpoint presentation about the chosen topic of
helicopters demonstrated carrying out duties of one to one teaching within the large and small groups, also
meant they felt supported and guided in their language learning on a daily basis.
May 2007 to July 2008 Private Tutor
Private tuition in English to students on a one to one basis
Students from Kurdistan and Afghanistan, for example, started with no previous English language
understanding or ability. I developed accurate and imaginative teaching and learning materials which
helped to create an interesting and well balanced lesson. I strived to give an equal opportunity to all of the
students by ensuring the national curriculum was followed but adapted it to suit the various levels. The
students had a different first language which meant they were slower at understanding the language

outcomes, but being one to one, I was able to deliver the curriculum at differing paces to suit the pupils. It
was extremely rewarding to see the progress made by the end of the tuition courses and I was certain that
the students had developed both within the English language and also in confidence.
August 2008 to September 2008 Private Tutor
Delivery of one to one lessons with students aged 10 16 years.
I helped the students with understanding the English language so that they were able to progress and
further their ability to progress in the school environment and with their studies. As an ESOL tutor to the
students I was able to provide them with the essentials for living and working in the UK, and to recognise
their potential and confidence.
September 2000 to October 2002 The British School Al Khubairat, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.
Teacher’s Assistant
Part of a team of nine Early Years Practitioners
I proved myself to be a very capable and hard working individual, carrying out every aspect of my role
conscientiously. Working successfully as part of a team, I was well liked and contributed my expertise and
vast array of skills. This gave me good experience in ensuring the learning aims of the pupils were met and
the welfare and safety of the pupils. I gave support to the other teaching staff and sharing ideas and
materials amongst us ensured the smooth running of the unit.
