Accomplishments
During my two years with Lakeview Montessori School, I was able to develop
and execute a complete transformation of the schools athletic program.
Prior to my arrival the school had no organized athletic program or
facilities to participate within athletics. Upon my arrival I transformed
the program to a professional environment, which stressed the importance of
being a student athlete and community involvement. As athletic director I
procured off site athletic facilities for the students to train in and
built partnerships with the community including the Windsor Express
professional basketball team, for athletic conditioning, coaching, and
facilities. In addition to the Windsor Express my student athletes played
host to the Harlem Globetrotters promoting their anti-bullying campaign
within the Windsor community. As I believe that athletics should be for
everyone I built a program on complete inclusion and was able to start a
junior athletic program for kids in grades 1 to 3, where they learned
athletic skills for a variety of sports and competed in age appropriate
leagues around the community.
As department head of mathematics I introduced technologically advanced
means of delivering school materials, and lessons through the introduction
of smart boards and resources to aid in student learning. I brought fun and
differentiated learning programs to the school, which allowed the students
to develop both at school and at home in hands-on and meaningful ways.
Through the incorporation of technology I was able to bridge the gap
between a traditional and 21st century classroom, where technology is used
as a tool to aid in their learning experience.
