Responsible for managing all HR functions for this $55 million, 4 site, manufacturer of metal cabinets and
enclosures for Industrial, Medical and Commercial applications. Function managed included Employee
Relations, EH&S, Worker’s Comp, Payroll, Training, Benefits, and Recruitment. Responsible for the
creation and “hands on management” of employee relation programs to support the company’s culture
and business objectives of 100% safety, quality and production standards. Assigned by CEO to
participate in weekly site reviews across four sites to review performance and for each operation.
Manufacturing operations included Injection Molding, Welding, Machining, Powder Coating and Plating.
Joined the company in 1997 when the company had one facility and 97 employees . Part of Management
Team that grew the company to $110 million by 2008, just prior to the recession that reduced
annual revenue by 35% overnight. Designed and implemented all HR programs and functions
expanding programs to support six multi-state locations.
Participated in the acquisition/integration of 2 companies in Anaheim and Las Vegas, and due diligence on
3 other company targets that were not acquired.
Transitioned $26M annual payroll from weekly to a bi-weekly and implemented a state-of-the-art hand
reader system to eliminate potential time card/badge system fraud.
Set-up and managed company employee benefits including medical, dental, life, short term, long term
disability insurance and 401k program.
Created new base pay structure with key principles and operating guidelines, replacing outdated plan
that was no longer market competitive or internally credible.
Designed recruitment functions partnering with dynamic temporary labor provider resulting in 32% labor
cost savings.
Established effective new hire policy to ensure compliance of all I-9 requirements and E-Verify system to
eliminate hiring of undocumented candidates.
Authored the current IIPP as part of the corporate safety program; trained and tested emergency
alert system to meet published evacuation goals.
Developed company business emergency plan; risk assessment and business resumption program.
Developed employee wellness program to improve employee morale and increase productivity by using
programs supporting free health screening, health expo, education series, and wellness newsletter, EAP,
smoking cessation, weight management and healthy snack centers.
Partnered with OSHA and legal support to minimize and reduce all OSHA fines over 40% in
relation to press brake machine accidents, minimizing exposure to general and fines. Reviewed
machine safety devices and developed a code of safe practices on power press machinery, resulting in the
installation of light curtain safety mechanisms to eliminate press brake digit injuries.
Managed workman’s compensation program and reduced the ex-mod from 113% to 86% in 2 years
creating safety monitors and employee awareness programs to minimize injuries. Utilized a limited
bridgework assignment increasing the early return to work program by 81%.
