TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE

* Designed and Architected High Availability Environments and Multi-node Clusters using Products like HP’s MC Service Guard.

* Also successfully implemented ServiceGuard Extensions for SAP ECC and BW Servers with various middleware components. Familiar with NFS Toolkit for Service Guard.

* Worked very closely with the Architecture/Engineering Groups and Vendors to evaluate new products, prepare for proof of concepts and later implement the same. Instrumental in setting up an isolated Network of UNIX Servers for testing open-source software for areas related to Bare Metal Recovery, SAN Virtualization (IBM SVC & VPLEX), Active-Directory to Unix Integration using centrify, System monitoring tools, Enterprise Configuration Management etc.

* Performed installation, configuration and maintenance of a wide range of HP Servers like Integrity Series, Superdomes, Proliant Blade Servers like 890c i2 & i4, 860c etc. Familiar with N-Pars, V-Pars and HP’s Integrity Virtual Machines.

Also worked on tools like EMC Connectrix Manager, ECC, SMC (CLI) to provision LUNS/devices from EMC Clariions, VPLEX, VMAX and DMX Arrays etc. to a variety of hosts in a heterogeneous environment.

* Extensively used tools like HP Command View for LUN Masking and LUSE LUN creation, Navisphere (for EMC CLARiiONs) and assigned the LUNS to hosts running different flavors of Operating System while following the SAN best practices.

* Provisioned and allocated storage from diverse storage arrays to server assets (Windows, VMware and UNIX based), assignment of RAID levels, LUN configurations, and file system creation.

* Implemented and maintained HP’s Data Protector and Business copy integration tools to achieve Zero Downtime Backups (ZDB) for mission critical applications.

* Successfully lead the storage migration effort for moving mission critical applications from the XP128 array to the XP12000 array.

* Familiar with Time-finder BCVs, SRDF & Metro LUNs. Worked in many environments using the same for their Disaster Recovery Procedures.

* Represented the team in analyzing root causes of high severity problems and communicating to related parties with appropriate recommendations.

* Communicated, negotiated and provided direction to vendors and subcontractors on an on-going basis in sensitive situations to resolve complex problems.

* Monitored the network and the servers using various tools like Glance, Perfview, etc.

* Prepared and implemented HP Jump-start routines for large-scale HP installations.

* Maintained multiple HP and Sun file-servers consisting of hundreds of application programs and user home directories accessed via NFS. Maintained NIS master/slave servers along with multiple DNS name servers.

* Monitored all patch releases for HP, RHEL, and Solaris while coordinating installations on as needed basis using tools like BMC’s BBSA to deploy them in a controlled fashion.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

* Functioned as the technical lead for training Junior System Administrators and new recruits to enhance their productivity and participation. Responsible for teams’ end result when acting as project leader. Instrumental in evaluating the performance of the technical off-shore teams.

* Experience in managing virtual off-shore teams. Provided direction and guidance to the off-shore team to maintain the SLAs and perform the risk assessment. Provided 24 X 7 Level 3 Support for critical platforms.

* Played a key role in deploying an environment of around 180 HP-UX SAP Servers involving multiple High-Availability and disaster tolerant Clusters with VPLEX Metro LUNs, with the help of an off-shore team.

* Deployed Centrify’s solution in an environment of over 900 HP-UX and Linux Servers to integrate UNIX and Active Directory with a team of off-shore System Administrators.

* Instrumental in the decommissioning of 5 CLARiiON Arrays and migrating the data to VPLEX Arrays. The project included several off-hour sessions, minimal downtime windows, zero data corruption and involved more than 200 Windows/ESX, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris and Linux Hosts. Effectively made use of tools like Mobility Central for Array based migration and tools like Mirror-UX for host-based migrations.

* During the course of varied responsibilities, demonstrated good understanding of ITIL V3 practices, people, process and customer management.

* Worked on building IT security policies, performing internal IT Audits, building SOX compliance IT General Control sets, hardening Servers running various Unix operating systems (RHEL, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX), patch management strategies, performing vulnerability assessments along with penetration testing, and documenting access control procedures, IT Security procedures documentation and other IT Security related activities. Having dialog with UNIX, Database, SOX Governance and Application Teams about accounting and control issues and provide solutions or provide research guidance for potential solutions. Reviewed deficiencies and formulated solutions for implementation.

* Possess good knowledge of SOX regulations, as they relate to IT General controls and Internal controls. Experienced in performing, testing and documenting the results of various IT general control processes for program development & change, computer operations, access to data & programs, and application controls. Extremely familiar in running reports using EMC’s Enterprise Configuration Manager (Formerly Configuresoft’s ECM Product) to maintain the designated SOX Servers in the environment.
