Description:

The CA-eHealth/CA IM product in CenturyLink is being used to gather Passive

Performance management Statistics for:

CenturyLink backbone - The Backbone interface statistics are being used to

do the capacity planning for Network.

CenturyLink Provider Edge - The interfaces for the provider edge are polled

in order to provide Reports to end customers buying products from Qwest.

The CA eHealth/CA IM Web portal /CGI interface is reused for this purpose.

Also Bytes In/Out info is passed to billing systems as well.

Customer Premise - Certain Qwest products require the polling of Customer

Premise Equipment. This is also provided by the eHealth/CA IM systems.

The customizations done for eHealth system are

> Complete Automation of the Device Discovery and Re-Discovery (Auto

Discovery)

> Complete Automation of Daily, Weekly and Monthly House keeping

> Using Perl SNMP API (Net-SNMP) and eHealth CLI commands to turn

polling on/off for interfaces, which do not have any customers on

them. This is done to save eHealth licenses.

> Renaming of elements to Qwest standard format using TCL and DCI

scripting.

> Filtering of unnecessary interfaces using the TCL and DCI scripting.

> Usage of scheduled ASCII reports and parsing using Perl API so as to

get them in proper format to suite the different billing systems,
