PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Nemschoff (A Division of Herman Miller), Sheboygan WI 2005 - 2014

A designer and manufacturer of soft seating product, patient centered chairs, and case goods products for the Health Care Industry. Headquarters in Sheboygan with 3 manufacturing facilities, 2 in Sheboygan and 1 in Iowa.

Vice President of Operations, Sheboygan, WI 2010 – 2014

Reporting to the COO and the Executive VP of World Wide Operations. Full P&L responsibility for operation with 350 – 400 employees and annual sales volume of $80 million.

• Initiated and managed the closure and move of the Iowa Plant to the Sheboygan Seating Plant,move was accomplished in 90 days from announcement, saving $2 million dollars.

• Led the consolidation of the Casegoods Plant into the Seating Plant saving $600,000. The Casegoods operation was placed in 40% of the original floor space.

• Initiated and led a cross functional team to reduce overall wood inventory by 1/3 ~ approximately $250,000 by creating a pull system using Lean principles.

• Leading the Operation and working with Safety, reduced the recordable injuries by more than 50% and won the Herman Miller Safety and Environmental Award for 2013.

• Initiated and led a cross functional team to reduce shipping damage by 60%.

• Created and implemented Units Per Labor Hour (UPLH) metrics for all value streams for FYI2015. Improved UPLH by 4% in first Quarter. Direct labor for the month of August was 17.3% vs. a plan of 21%. Plant production was at the same level as February with 30 less temporary employees.

• Created a cost saving program using Lean principals for FYI2015 of $600,000, actual reported savings of $175,000 for first quarter.

Plant Manager, Sioux Center, IA 2005 - 2010

Reporting to the Vice President of Operations. P&L responsibility for the entire plant with 110 – 125 and annual production volume of $35 million.

• Initiated and led the relay out and restructuring of the entire plant to improve the flow of product through the plant to improve the on time completion to over 98%. First plant to achieve 100% on

time completions.

• Created a hourly employee performance review program along with metrics and goals, which improved efficiencies across the plant by 25% to 30%,

• Created a staffing tool to evaluate variables and assist with projecting staffing levels based on business needs. This staffing model was used by all plants.

• Partnering and working with the HR manager created an Employee handbook.

• The items listed above improved gross margin from the upper 30%’s to the upper 40%’s.

• Liaison to the community and city council.

August Technology, Bloomington, MN 2000 – 2004

A designer and manufacturer of high tech vision inspection equipment for the semi-conductor industry.

Ran all aspects of production and day to day manufacturing operations.

• Led Master scheduler/Forecasting for $100–$120 million-production area
