One of two crew leaders for youth (ages 16-18) work crews working on rural and wilderness work projects
throughout Vermont. Required to maintain a healthy and safe environment for crew members while working
with project sponsors to manage and complete work projects, teaching technical skills, led discussions on
various environmental articles, and acting as a positive role model. Most projects involved trail building and
maintenance, such as building stone stairs, drainage structures, and bridges. We lived outdoors for both of the 4-
week sessions, setting up a base camp in close proximity to work sites.
