Research assistant

Texas A&M International University - Laredo, TX

August 2011 to December 2011

Assigned to collect and test multiple soil samples for heavy toxic metals particularly Antimony and Arsenic in

recreational parks and biking trails around Laredo. As well as but not limited to individually separated soil samples from

the various locations and taking note of the contaminated area surroundings. Experiments were both supervised and

unsupervised.

Research assistant

Texas A&M International University - Laredo, TX

January 2013 to May 2013

Assigned to collect hundreds of live Corbicula fluminea samples from the Rio Grande River to put them into groups and place

them around several water sources in Laredo where they served as a heavy toxic metal indicator. The freshwater mussels

were kept into their designated water source for almost a month and then dissected in order to perform a chemical anaylisis

on selected organs. The calculations and solutions for the experiment were done within a group and all data and observations

were recorded into a lab notebook. Completed a presentation for the entire science department that summarized research

results at the end of the semester.
