EXPERIENCE
Philips Research, Briarcliff Manor, NY 9/91 – present
Senior Research Engineer 12/12-present
Research Engineer 7/05-12/12
Member Research Staff 3/94-7/05
Associate Member Research Staff 9/91-3/94
As a member and a leader of various research and engineering groups was responsible for
management, technical lead, concept design, implementation and integration of analog and
high-speed digital electronics into various research prototypes. Major projects include:
• “Non-imaging bodily vessels screening” project
- Designed the system architecture; supervised a team of hardware and software
engineers, working on various parts of the system; designed the system’s FPGA controlled
front-end.
- Ran clinical trals with the system.
• “High intensity focused theraputic ultrasound” project:
Architectured the high-level design of the system’s first version, which was successfully
-
sold to several clinical sites. Used the feedback from the ‘pilot’ users to define the
specification for the second generation system.
Responsible for the concept design, FPGA development, system integration, team
-
leadership and safety testing for the second system version. The system is currently being
used in pre-clinical experiments.
• “Non-imaging Doppler ultrasound” project:
Designed algorithms for Doppler ultrasound processing capable of locating the source of
-
the Doppler shift in tissue without using the image.
Developed architecture of a FPGA-based hardware platform for medical ultrasound
-
experiments, prototyped signal processing algorithms in FPGA, designed an analog part of
the platform.
Worked closely with the business unit on the project transfer.
-
• LCoS HDTV Projector project:
Designed advanced video processing algorithms and prototyped them on FPGAs for real-
-
time evaluation. The algorithms included novel video sharpness enhancements, color error
reduction and others. Transferred several designs to the business units.
- Architectured high-speed digital FPGA based video interfaces and was responsible for the
system integration.
• Video Echo Cancellation project
- Hardware, firmware and software design of video echo cancellation systems for various
SD TV systems, field testing and extensive negotiations with the customers throughout
the world.
- Responsible for transferring the technology to the manufacturing facility.
• Transmissive LCD TV Projector project:
- Hardware design of memory boards for a TV projector. Software simulation of real time
adaptive color correction algorithms.
All-Union Television Research Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia 7/86 – 7/90
Senior Engineer 5/88 - 7/90
Staff Engineer 7/86 – 5/88
- Managed a team responsible for the hardware design of a memory system for a special
purpose TV projector.
- Hardware and software design of a microprocessor based video engineer control panel for
a TV studio.
