CONTRACT ENGINEER: Covidien. Recruited through Kelly Services, Boulder,
CO, 4/2014 - 5/2014 Worked on an AC to DC design to power a corded medical
instrument that was originally battery powered. Trained technician for
required testing.
CONSULTING ENGINEER - QSC Systems, Inc: Longmont, CO for Newmont Mining
Corp
Electronic Design Engineering: Redesign system hardware for a ground based
measurement system. Redesign to include some hardware design, schematic
capture, and PCB layout.
CONSULTING ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - Woodward Governor: Fort Collins, CO
Recruited through Oxford International - 3/2012 - 10/2012.
Recruited through Adecco Technical - 4/2004 to 7/2008 also 1/2010 to 4/2010
Performed power supply design for more output wattage in less space, VHDL
programming for FPGA interface to VME bus, and design for PLD data
collection. Diagnosed EMI failures on two different designs, and
implemented changes to include PCB layout to resolve issues. Designed new
speed channel and analog/digital input for new safety project to meet SIL4
standards (Safety Integrity Level). Simulated all designs in Orcad's
Pspice for margin analysis. Created white box test plans for hardware
testing, and new Visio diagrams for documentation.
CONSULTING ENGINEER - Self Employed: Berthoud, CO, for Newmont Mining
Corp
6/2010 - 11/2011, 1/2012 - 5/2012: Designed new electronic training mat
for HR group training, to include software monitoring on a laptop computer.
7/2003, 1/2007, 1/2009 - 6/2009: Redesign system hardware for a ground
based measurement system. Redesign to include some hardware design,
schematic capture, PCB layout, and system testing. Assembled and tested
airborne receiver and transmitter systems. Systems were designed around
PC104 architecture. Transmitter was 24KW with 20% duty cycle at once per
second. One receiver measured the ground resistivity by measuring the
decay of the pulse, and the second receiver measured changes in the earth's
magnetic field. GPS receivers were used for location.
ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - Coleman Powermate: Longmont, CO 3/2001 - 12/2001.
Co-designed permanent magnet variable speed generators and 5 KW power
inverters. Designed system monitor for 25 KW generators. PCB layout for
both systems. Created original part numbering tracking system for
schematic to layout to BOM; saving a four hour check time down to five
minutes.
PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - Baseline Industries: Lyons, CO 9/1996 -
3/2001
Designed new digital/analog platform for multiple sensor types and multiple
output monitor connections using PC104 architecture. Design was modular
and could be loaded for a basic unit to a full blown gas analyzer.
Firmware was able to identify modules and adjust display monitor. This
design saved the company from building multiple platforms in production.
Designed two modules with common pulse width modulator (PWM) for
temperature control 0.2 C) and a gas flow electromechanical valve
0.2 cc ). Both were temperature compensated for external temperature
fluctuations. Analyzers passed both emissions (EMI) and CSA approvals.
Analyzer communications in isolated RS232/485. Complete PCB design of
platform and modules.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER - Storage Technology Corp. Longmont, CO
8/1987-1/1995
Designed equalization filtering for Read/Write (R/W) channels on tape
drives. SMT re-design for real estate and BOM savings. Enhanced R/W
channels to 90% system diagnostics. Mediated OEM customer applications.
Compliance with FCC/VDE Class B regulations. Created test fixtures for PCB
testing. Analysis utilizing DOS, Pspice, Mathcad, Lotus, Orcad, Acad.,
UNIX Mentor V8 HPUX with Verilog. Additional education in Design for
Manufacturing (DFM) and EMI.
CONSULTING ENGINEER - Self Employed: Lyons, CO 1/1995 - 9/1996
Designed electrical/pneumatic controls for automated robotics packaging
systems. Generated ladder programs for both Allen Bradley and Festo
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's). Interfaced bar code scanner to gas
analyzer for a Class 1 Division 1 (explosion proof and fire proof)
environment.
