Research Summary:
Expertise in the synthesis and characterization of mesoporous silica materials
Design and Development of modified mesostructured SBA-15 catalysts for organic
transformations in both liquid (Batch mode) and vapour phase (Continuous mode) conditions
Modification of SBA-15 with organic moieties like –NH2, -SH, -SO3H, -COOH and
biological molecules by post-grafting and co-condensation methods
Immobilization of metal nanoparticles (Cu, Ni, Pd, Au and Rh) on organically functionalized
SBA-15
Water medium organic transformations over SBA-15 supported nanocatalysts
Development of Copper based catalysts for hydrogenation- dehydrogenation (Coupling)
reactions in vapour phase conditions
Development of 2D, 3D-mesoporous silica architecture based Ni catalysts
Gas phase hydrocyclization of levulinic acid to γ-valerolactone
Equipment Operation and Handling:
Well conversant with usage of Gas chromatography, XRD (Low & wide angle), GC-MS,
TPR/TPD, FT-IR, BET surface area, chemisorption measurements, and i nterpretation of
SEM, TEM, ESCA.
Catalysts activity tests using fixed-bed micro-catalytic reactors.
Software usage:
Well versed with chemistry related software tools like Chemdraw, Chemwind, ISIS draw,
Origin, Pcpdfwin.
