Summary of the project

Generally recognized as the largest building contract awarded in the emirate

of Abu Dhabi totaling about 7 Billion AED (1.9 Billion USD).

560,000m2 buildings package at the Central Market Re-development (World

-

Trade Center Abu Dhabi).

The project consists of a 5 star hotel tower, 4 star hotel tower, residential

-

tower & an office tower

The 88 story residential tower is 382 meters high and is considered to be the

-

tallest in Abu Dhabi.

The 5 star hotel tower will be 55 stories high with 279 rooms and 132

-

serviced apartments.

The office tower comprises of 58 stories which will service as prime office

-

space.

The smallest of them, the 16 storied tower will be a four star hotel with 212

-

rooms.

The overall redevelopment comprises apartments, an Arabian souk, branded

-

retail outlets, food outlets and restaurants for all tastes, grade A office space,

world class hotels, and parking for in excess of 5,250 cars.

My Role

Worked at the WTC Office Tower (Trust Tower).

-

My job title can be described as Construction Manager (US equivalent).

-

Participated in all construction works at the Tower from beginning till

-

handing over of the building and served the maintenance period.

Reviewed all the design and shop drawing to ensure all the details are clear

-

and executable.

Activities I was following included (setting out of lifts, curtain walls, block

-

works, plastering works, dry wall partitions, wall painting works, Epoxy

flooring and painting, water proofing, screed works, marble works, raised

floor tiles, steel structure and BMU of the tower).

Coordination between different subcontractors for different activities

-

including MEP works and testing & commissioning.

Handled around 20 subcontractors and my job was giving them programs,

-

following it up, checking work quality, give them payment approvals when

job is done.

Supervised Site Engineers, general foremen, foremen and their handling of

-

carpenters, steel fixers, scaffolders and masons) and my team totaled around

350 people working day and night shifts.

Management of subcontractors’ manpower that totaled around 1200 person.

2- Etihad Towers, Abu Dhabi, UAE (August 2008 – May 2009)

Site Engineer

Summary of the project

The project consists of 3 underground car park basements (90,000 m2) and 3

-

floors of retail area (Mall) (59,500 m2) as well as VIP parking.

The project is mainly constructed of concrete with curtain wall (façade). The

-

total built-up area of the project is 485,000 m2 (5 million ft2).

The project consisted of 5 high-rise towers,

-

Tower-1 (74 floors) serves as a Hotel and Serviced Apartments with an area of 107,460 m2.

Tower-2 (60 floors) comprises of Residential Apartments with a built-up area of 69,550 m2.

Tower-3 (64 floors) will operate as an Office Tower with a total area of 56,000 m2.

Tower 4 & 5 (60 & 55 floors) serves as Residential Apartments with an area of 82,690 m2.

My Role

Participated at the first stages of the project including piling, diaphragm

-

walls, de-watering, waterproofing and casting the raft foundation.

Executed concrete work cycle (columns, beams and slabs) including form

-

works and steel reinforcement supervision.

My job tasks included programs and order of materials follow-up.

-

Also review the design drawings in order to report any errors before starting

-

the construction work.

Supervised general foremen, foremen and their handling of carpenters, steel

-

fixers, scaffolders and masons and my team totaled around 500 people

working day and night shifts.

- Participated in preparing program comment updates for potential

delays and time claims.
