Production environments. I manage Oracle 11g R2 on both Windows and Linux
environment on a VCS cluster that automates database and application
failover within a multiple remote data center. We use Tomcat/Weblogic
servers as a major part of the application servers, and on daily bases, I
use Oracle tools such as the OEM, AWR, TOAD to closely monitor and enhance
the performance of the database for end users. Data security and data
encryption is also an essential part of my daily responsibilities.

SQL Developer
. Constantly monitor database avalability, space management
. Work in a database environment hosting tomcat/weblogic application
servers daily
. Provide adequate support to developers and architects in the
development life cycle of the software
. Meet with team leads from various departments to ensure proper
understanding and easy communication of the development strategy
. Perform capacity planning in terms of memory and disk usage,
establishing benchmarks for business and technical performance
. Transform the backup and recovery tasks on Oracle database from using
the USERMANAGE backup to using RMAN tool for fast, efficient and more
accurate backup and recovery
. Perform a flashback and point in time recovery when necessary
. Part of the team that designs the continuity of operations (COOP)
guideline incase of disaster or any type of failure
. Creating a database recovery catalog and registering databases to the
recovery catalog for efficient backup and recovery

crontab utility
. Support system administration groups with maintaining oracle database
servers and in development, test, stage, and development environments
. Part of the team migrating entire system to Unicode
