Professional Experience
Wayne State University (May 2012-April 2014)
Graduate Research Assistant
- Finished organic synthesis of a series of 4'-O-Paromomycin derivative antibiotics. The
antibiotics were purified with TLC, HPLC, ion-exchange chromatography and characterized
with high resolution LC-MS, NMR.
- Created and maintained sample inventory; Prepared and Shipped Samples to our
collaborator for pharmaceutical profile characterization (activity, toxicity, ect).
- Responsible for the maintenance of LC-MS, HPLC equipments, lab chemical inventory
management, chemical reagent purchase, training intern students.
- Initiated a collaboration project at the interface of organic chemistry and analytical chemistry
with another research group and lead the project between several team members.
- Finished organic synthesis and purification of a series of carbohydrate synthesis
intermediates with HPLC; Prepared the sample for mass spectrometry characterization.
- Developed a quantitative analytical method to do quality test of carbohydrate synthesis
intermediates using both LC-Mass Spectrometry cone voltage fragmentation method and
collision induced collision (CID).
- Data analysis of the experiment results with Microsoft Excel.
Wayne State University (Sep 2011-April 2012)
Graduate Teaching Assistant
- Taught an advanced organic lab for two groups of undergraduate students, who were mostly
in pre-medical or pre-pharmacy programs. Students were trained with basic lab skills like
filtration, recrystallization, gas chromatography, etc.
- Gave quiz lectures on organic chemistry class for three groups of undergraduate students.
Portland State University (Aug 2010-Aug 2011)
Research Assistant Intern
- Finished organic synthesis of salophene to detect tumor biomarkers.
- The organic compound was purified with TLC, liquid chromatography and characterized with
LC-MS and NMR.
Laboratory of Biomacromolecule Crystallography USTC (Jul 2008-June 2009)
Intern
- Finished protein expression of hPRS2 in E.coli system.
- Purified the protein with metal-affinity chromatography, size-exclusion HPLC, Hydrophobic
Interaction Chromatography subsequently.
- Prepared the sample in buffer solution; screened crystallization condition of the protein
sample.
