Plant Electrical Engineer at SSAB Americas
Location: Mobile AL, (March 2011 – May 2014) Industry: Mining & Metals (Steel)
Lead Electrical Project Construction Manager for a new Heat Treat facility at SSAB Mobile plant.
Scope included 35kv to 12vdc electrical installation. Equipment installed includes 2 MV rooms with 15
ea 35kv Siemens GIS circuits breakers, 20+ 35kv to 480v transformers, MV switches, distribution
gear, MCC’s, VFD drives, lighting, etc as required to hand off to Automation and Operations
employees. Managed electrical contract firms with up to 150 electricians. Work required maintaining
schedules, review of construction drawings, bid documents, review of work in progress, approval of
capital equipment delivered to site, procurement of machinery not included in original bids, approving
invoices and providing management daily updates.
Installed and commissioned 2 Cat generator sets in Heat Treat area. Scope of work included: All
electrical equipment as required make a complete automated system. Upon the loss of main Utility
and backup power, the generator set and transfer switches automatically start and transfer power to
supply minimal interruption to critical plant systems as well as IT servers and network equipment.
Installed WinCC on 15 power monitors which allows detailed power usage and power quality
information from the 480v distribution system.
Procurement & Supply Chain Manager, NORANDAL USA INC.
Location: Franklin & Huntingdon, TN (2006-2010) Industry: Mining & Metals (AL).
Supervised Procurement, Stores, Traffic & Energy Team. Championed corporate-wide business unit
supply chain and energy efficiency projects, analyzing procurement spends and trends, targeting
opportunities for expense reductions and cost savings. Supervised 7 Exempt and 19 Nonexempt
employees.
Negotiated & implemented over 150 Supply Chain and on-site contractor agreements.
Led Noranda corporate wide Supply Chain team in securing and implementing multiple national
account contracts for Raw Materials, Energy, MRO and logistics, resulting in savings in excess of
$8.7M in 2008/2009.
Worked with Department of Energy to perform multiple energy audits at the Huntingdon site over a 4
year period. Originated and completed 20 energy efficiency projects which reduced BTU/Lb shipped
by an annual value of $2.7M.
Negotiated & executed procurement & supply energy contracts, implemented Electrical demand
response with EnerNOC (TVA partner) with an annual value of $240k.
Wrote, submitted and received approval for an economic stimulus application (TVA Valley Investment
Initiative) valued at $3.8M over five years. Overhauled processes to measure Supplier performance in
order to evaluate OTD, conformance to specification, billing issues and others as determined by
Supplier Quality site Audits.
Led Reliability group. Completed 40+ projects which reduced cost by more than $400k annually.

IR Thermography, Ultrasonic leak testing, Motor circuit analysis, Balance & Alignment and

Led regional team of management staff, process owners, engineers and Six Sigma belts to drive
process improvement at four plants. Worked with team to develop a list of potential projects, provided
business cases, project charters and managed belts as required to achieve and sustain the gain.
Direct reports were a revolving staff of 30 Black and Brown Belts. Achievements:
• Completed 119 projects through the implementation of Six Sigma methodology and reduced cost by
a total of $28M over the 5 year period.
• Led the corporation Enterprise Risk Management process. Developed strategies for remediation of
risk and championed installation of the required modifications.
• Led teams working on the following: DMAIC, RCFA, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing. Utilized root
cause failure analysis to maximize shareholder value.
