PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
• I am a highly motivated research scientist with expertise in biomarker assay development, in particular, the
nucleic acids -based bioassay development, such as multiplex QPCR assay and digital PCR assay. In particular,
I have experience of developing companion diagnostics kit to detect specific mutations in human tumor
samples.
• I am familiar with the in vitro diagnostics (IVD) design control and product design using DFSS.
• I have extensive research experience in oncology, immunology and pharmacology.
• I have intensive experience in developing, validating and documenting research protocols based on design of
experiment principles.
• I have the capacity to work independently at the bench, and on a team, set priorities, meet deadlines, and
manage multiple projects efficiently.

• Examined the promoter profile of SLC39A8 (ZIP8) and demonstrated the transcriptional
regulation by NF-κ B. Determined the function of zinc/ zinc transporter ZIP8 in regulating NF-
κ B and inflammation (a novel negative feedback loop pathway) in response to bacterial infection
and sepsis.
• Utilized the whole genome profiling (exon array) and bioinformatics analysis to study the
transcriptome changes in mouse lung in response to sepsis. Demonstrated that zinc regulates
JAK-STAT3 signaling and acute phase response in sepsis-induced lung injury.
• Determined the function of zinc in obesity-derived adipose tissue inflammation and metabolic
syndrome in a high-fat diet-induced obesity mouse model.

• Examined the promoter region of Aldo-keto reductase AKR1B7 gene and identified the binding
sites for nuclear receptors PXR, LXR and CAR. Demonstrated that PXR, LXR and CAR co-
regulate lipid metabolism and lipid peroxidation through the gene transcriptional regulation of
AKR1B7.
• Determined the function of nuclear receptor PXR in inhibiting apoptosis in colon cancer cells and
