SUMMARY:
Civil engineer with experience in a variety of engineering design roles.
Constantly finishes projects under budget and ahead of schedule. Scheduled
to take EIT exams in October 2014.
EDUCATION:
University of Illinois at Chicago
Master of Science in Civil Engineering
May 2014
University of Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College
Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) in Civil Engineering
August 2011
COURSE HIGHLIGHTS:
Structural Dynamics Earthquake Engineering of
Structural Analysis I & II Structures
Design of Masonry Structures Foundation Analysis & Design
Design of Reinforced Concrete & Steel Nondestructive Testing of
Structures Concrete
Finite Element Analysis Engineering Hydrology
Transportation & Traffic
Engineering
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS:
Bachelor's Degree Dissertation "Road Pavement Design of Cantonement Road
Using UK DCP 3.1": Designed asphalt pavement of road using UK DCP 3.1,an
engineering design software. Performed traffic volume count to determine
the annual average daily traffic (AADT) and designed the road pavement to
adequately carry the traffic loads.
Earthquake Engineering of Structures: Assessment of multi-story building
subjected to earthquake forces. Investigated the excitation source and
performed all the intermediate steps using SAP 2000 to obtain the response
of the structure. The performance of the structure was then quantitatively
assessed.
Finite Element Analysis: Design and analysis of steel power transmission
tower using ANSYS. Successfully carried out in-depth analysis of stresses,
strains and deformations of the tower and identified the elements in which
maximum stress, strain and deformation occurred.
Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures: Worked in a group of three
students in the structural design of a multi-story reinforced concrete
building. Designed the columns, beams and slabs using ACI 318 code.
Nondestructive Testing of Concrete: Performed analysis of a reinforced
concrete bridge deck using impact-echo and rebound hammer tests. From the
results obtained from these two methods, sections of the bridge that had
delaminations or cracks were identified and it was determined that the
concrete slab of the bridge deck had adequate structural integrity.
SKILLS:
MS Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint), AutoCAD Civil 3D, ANSYS, MATLAB, SAP
2000, HEC-HMS, Win TR-20, UK DCP 3.1, GRLWEAP 2010, Revit, Adobe
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:
CEMMATS GROUP LTD
Project Engineer
March 2012 - Dec
2012
. Managed and directed a team of 93 men including building supervisors,
foremen, carpenters, artisans and masons in the construction of
reinforced concrete buildings according to their specifications,
within budget and schedule for a mining company with an annual revenue
of $84 million.
. Performed design of reinforced concrete and metal structures using
International Building Code.
. Conducted survey and layout of building design sites using
construction surveying equipment including total station.
. Integrally involved in cost estimation and project budgeting for a
building project with a total budget of $40 million.
. Reviewed contract documents and supervised project CPM management.
. Prepared engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
. Submitted weekly and monthly project reports.
. Participated in client meetings and resolved engineering and project
management issues.
Hydrology and Water Quality Engineer
Sep 2011 - March 2012
. Worked as part of a team of environmental experts on several
Environmental Social and Impact Assessment Surveys (ESIA), determining
the direct physical impacts of mining, agricultural and other
activities on groundwater and surface water using hydrological tools.
. Calculated direct runoff, base flow and analyzed the catchment area
conditions. Suggested mitigation measures to address the impacts noted
in the hydrological assessments.
. Successfully conducted hydrological studies and submitted a hydrology
report for a proposed 250 MW hydro-electric power plant.
