Accomplishments
. Currently designing/testing an upgrade for an auto alarm system, via
wireless connection. The upgrade includes the integration of a motion
detection (infrared) sensor which incorporates a Fresnel lens for
greater light captivation. The device is known as a PIR sensor
(passive infrared detection). Along with the detection device, I've
designed a transmitter, receiver and their antennas. My transmitter
that is driven by an oscillator (hex inverter-quad packaged) consists
of a 3 stage amplifier scenario. Along with my oscillator and PIR
sensor, I've designed a series of flip-flops to (simultaneously)
energize and de-energize both circuits. The flip-flops are especially
critical with the initial power up of the PIR sensor in order to
prevent false triggering. I integrate the receiver into the vehicle's
car alarm system. With any external movement detected by the PIR
sensor, within a specified radius of the vehicle, will activate the
transmitter, that will radiate or transmit a radio wave signal to the
receiver and trigger the car's existing alarm system. [2010- Present]
. My residential design and integration project of a 240/120 vac, 20
amp, 5550 watt generator at the electrical panel, was to supply
emergency backup power in the event of a disruption of VAC power from
SCE. I designed specialized cables in order to interface between the
power generator and the existing electrical panel for two specific
circuits. Although the power generator came equipped with a 20 amp
circuit breaker (for high and low power delivery) my design included
(in series) a double-pole 20 amp (fused) quick disconnect for added
protection. This design allows the owner to have power distributed to
the two designated locations (using the existing electrical panel
circuitry) eliminating the need of messy, as well as unsafe extension
cords. When the power is either reduced by 50% or even drops out
completely, the specially tailored cabling allows the owner to
interface with the generator and the electrical panel for a safe and
resourceful, alternative method of emergency power distribution. I've
made a revision to this designed for in climate changes that won't
permit the safe operation of the power generator. [2006 -5 day
