2005 – 2013 IBM Software (WebSphere Transformation Extender product family)

Technical Writer/Lead Information Developer:

Focal point for the WebSphere Transformation Extender documentation.

Solely responsible for the research and migration of all th e source files to the IBM information

development content management system (IDCMS).

Managed migration of the help plug-ins for three information centers to the Knowledge Center.

Monitored the documentation feedback, and provide d solutions to customer issues.

Did release project planning and prioritizing, provided estimates, and coordinated deliverables

among teammates. Participated in project teams that use Agile methods, attended scrums, and

interacted with diverse members, including developers, QA, technical writers, architects, and

other technical professionals, in remote locations. Set up tasks in Rational Team Concert

(RTC). Improved product and processes.

W rote and maintained the set of 90+ information units using IBM documentation development

tools such as ID Workbench, DITA, and Arbortext Editor for 40+ releases. Coordinated with

the web administrator the tasks required to publish the online documentation. Provided

specifications and content. Provided content for, and edited, the z/OS Program Directory. W rote

and edited technotes, quick start guides, release notes, news items, and download documents.

Packaged documentation for translations.

Provided solutions to various documentation questions, issues, and design implementation s,

based on over 12 years of knowledge about the W ebSphere Transformation Extender products.

Focal point for terminology harmonization, analyzing terms to incorporate into the IBM glossary.

Incorporated DataPower, Hypervisor, and Sterling product terms. Implemented new glossary.

Made recommendations to developers for user interfaces and product behavior.

Mentored technical writers, including those in other product areas.

Developed the WebSphere Transformation Extender information center s.

Volunteered to assist colleagues.

Lead translations project. Created plan, worked with Translation Planner on shipment

schedules, and directed a team of technical writers who assisted with the packaging of the

documentation to send to the Translation Service Centers.

Solely responsible for the very large set of documentation. Provided content for DOUs,

Integrated Information Plans (IIPs), and Information Development Plans (IDPs).

Converted documentation developed in Adobe FrameMaker to DITA.

Note: IBM acquired Ascential in 2005.

2001 – 2005 Mercator/Ascential Software (data transformation software)

Sr. Technical Writer:

W rote documentation for the products including the mainframe products using RoboHELP and

Adobe Acrobat Pro. W rote documentation for Ascential SAP R/3 / Business Warehouse,

PeopleSoft, Siebel integration packages. These packages enable integration between third -

party systems and SAP, PeopleSoft and Siebel ERP applications. Maintained the EDI help and

manuals. Edited other writers’ documentation.

Managed projects using MS Project. Gathered requirements through interviews with

developers. Wrote documentation plans.

Participated in Circle of Excellence (COE) team decisions regarding standardizing graphics,

templates, tools, indexing, conversion and other related job activ ities.

Presented a history of data transformation, comparing the techniques that have evolved.

Converted documentation developed in Microsoft (MS) Word to Adobe FrameMaker.
