BUSINESS EXPERIENCE
Nokia Corporation > Microsoft Burlington, MA Dec 2010 to Present
The Data and Analytics group provides big data and NoSQL infrastructure, as
well as services to collect telemetry data and other data sources for the
other Nokia groups and services. Nokia develops and sells cell phones and
mobile web services.
R&D Manager - Big Data Systems and Infrastructure
Responsible for the full life cycle of four major services; DataOS (NoSql
storage system); Nokia Account (NoA); Nokia Analytic Collector (NAC);
Business Intelligence Suite (BIS). Involved in the definition of the
architecture, requirements, design and development, as well as the
deployment and operations. These service were internal services used by
Nokia Consumer services. Managed up to 30 engineers across multiple teams,
teams that were located in US and India.
Active member of the Data Governance board and privacy team as a data owner
and system implementer.
Implemented new processes for product development to include CI/CD and
Dev/Ops, which decreased our product delivery times from months to days.
Nokia Account - embedded SDK for use on the mobile devices, SaaS for direct
access by UI or REST, backend server using memcached and Oracle. Big data
processing - common consumer profile (CCP) and event logs. Thirty Nokia
services were dependent on the product,
NAC - embedded SDK used by mobile applications, REST based collection
server that fed a Hadoop cluster. Big data processing - NAC event record.
One hundred and fifty services are dependent on the Used by over 150 mobile
applications.
BIS - SaaS for general access to Big Data by all of Nokia. Service as
deployed in AWS and included multiple services, Web Interface and security
to manage data access and report sharing.
DataOs - SaaS NoSql private cloud solution for Nokia services, later
transitioned to AWS based using DynamoDB. Eighteen Nokia services depended
on the product.

Sun purchased Storagetek in 2005 and eventually reduced the group to 13
engineers. The product was re-architected to meet SUN standards and
improve supportability in the field. Added support for virtual tape
libraries.

Storagetek purchased Storability added responsibility to integrate the
Storability product into the Storagetek product line.

Startup that produced a data center storage - SRM product to operate in a

Director, Product Development
Responsible for the concept, design, development and deployment of a
customer owned globally deployed data storage manager product used by
FORTUNE 500 companies. Responsibilities included working with customers,
product marketing, SMEs to produce requirements and solve customer issues.
Initial member of the startup engineering team. Managed up to 50 engineers
located in the US and India.
Simplex Time Recorder, Gardner, MA Mar 1995 - Sep 2000
A manufacturer that designs, develops, installs and maintains Fire Alarm
Systems, Access Control Systems, and Time Management Systems.
Director, Security and Interoperability
Responsible to the Senior VP for Security and the VP of engineering for the
Access Control product line, to include the requirements definition,
design, development, QA, Beta testing, Tier 3 and Tier 2 support. Work
included re-architecture of the security product line, to include
peripherals, controllers, application, and support tools. Co-manage the P/L
for the business.
Lead New Controller Architecture
Responsible to the VP for R&D for definition, design, development, of the
base hardware and software architecture for the controller.
Director, Fire Alarm Software
Responsible to the VP for R&D for definition, design, development, QA of
all fire alarm software (application, controller and embedded), including

GTE Government Systems Corporation, Stamford CT, 1987 - Mar 1995
Worked on a number or large scale DoD and NASA contracts. Work included,
business development, proposals and program engineering and management. Key
positions included:
New Product Director 1993 to 1995
Orchestrated the transformation of intellectual product property developed
by GTE for the government into commercially viable products.
National /Theater Missile Defense Engineering Manager 1991 - 1993
Responsible for identifying and coordinating GTE technologies to provide
innovative solutions for missile defense programs. Key basis for the
proposal was the agent based communication schemes in concert with GTE
Labs.

Responsible for managing the bid on 2 software reuse programs, which
