2013 to Present

Area Manager - Crude/NHT/SAT Gas/Coker and Sulfur Recovery Complex (2014 to

Present)

Oversee refinery operation that includes heavy oil processing, sulfur

recovery complex, Sour Water Stripper and Merox Operation.

o Lead Operational Team to achieve safety, environmental, and

throughput/reliability goals.

o Leadership responsibility for two Area Supervisors as well as 32

Operators.

o Direct New Centralized Control Room Operator Consolidation effort.

o Coordinate 2015 refinery expansion efforts in area of

Senior Process Specialist - Heavy Oils Processing & Sulfur Recovery Complex

(2013)

Lead Engineer to identify long term improvement opportunities to improve

operational safety, process efficiency, and environmental compliance.

o Responsible for 5 year plant outage scope development. Includes

engineering designs, working with outside vendors, and developing

overall plan based on Operational staff input.

o Project Manager for efforts under $1MM.

o Conduct daily performance monitoring including energy consumption,

yields, and process performance indicators.

o Implement Operator training, procedural development, MOC and Hazop

reviews.

o Lead Incident Investigations and other site safety related

activities across site.

2012

. Chemicals Production Supply Chain Planner (2011 to 2012 ):

o New role responsible for strategic and tactical production planning

process for chlorosilane chemical intermediates in $2 billion

dollar chemical/polysilicon production plant. Develop and

communicate 1 to 3 year plans for all incoming raw materials and by-

products.

o Lead weekly inventory transaction reviews with accounting to ensure

material transactions are correctly represented in SAP via plant

reconciliation/material balance model. Update model configuration

for changes in plant operation.

o Lead efforts with manufacturing to proactively identify root causes

for production variances in chemical cost accounting workflows.

Document Root Cause Investigations for those items exceeding

variance cost thresholds.

o Continuously improve workflow defects and standardize/document

workflow improvements. Analyze model results and identify sources

of errors (meters, tank levels, trailer systems) to ensure

transaction errors do not result in non-standard costs.

o Initiate Sigmafine plant mass balance improvements to improve

reconciled mass errors and inventory errors.

o Address Sarbanes Oxley audit request during yearly audits. Ensure

SAP production modules are up to date for yearly cost accounting

verification runs.

o Mentor area manufacturing engineers on the use of site material

balance data reconciliation model as a tool to troubleshoot area

operations for issues.

. Process Technology Development Leader(1998 to 2001, 2004 to 2005, 2011):

o Technology Program leader for "next generation" chemical

intermediates process technology to remain competitive in producing

solar polysilicon by chlorosilane chemical vapor deposition

process.

o Patent Management Committee Coordinator for large chemical

business. Develop IP strategies around key technologies.

o Led multi-disciplinary team dealing with technology selection,

process development, regulatory, commercialization strategy and

investment analysis. Coordinated patent/competitor analysis and

opportunity analysis for business reviews. Technology reduced

capital and operation costs by ~50% vs existing process technology.

o Project leader for pilot plant capital investment to validate

technology.

o Led major effort to develop a $10MM pilot operation in South

America as a potential "game changer technology" for solar silicon

raw material using metal foundry unit operation. Responsible for

full economic evaluation of investment and developing business

presentations for Dow Corning board investment approval. Worked

with major equipment vendors and procurement for equipment cost

estimates. Coordinated supply and contract manufacturing efforts

with outside suppliers to produce necessary raw materials for new

operation.

o Lead benchmarking exercise to compare capital and operating cost of

HSC's chlorosilane chemical complex against emerging Asian

competitors. Worked with Dow Corning Global Engineering to

present the emerging competitive landscape to HSC's business board

and provide additional recommendations to improve the

competitiveness of future expansion efforts

. Chemical Area Production Manager (2007 to 2011):

o Led startup and operation of a "greenfield" $500MM chlorosilane

chemical plant asset to support ~$600MM in sales.

o Leadership responsibility for ~40 employees. Including

interviewing, staffing and personnel development. Coordinated the

development of 50 procedures and training operational support

resources (engineers and operators). Led manufacturing and

maintenance team to fully optimize new mega project operation to

achieve design performance.

o Worked closely with capital project resources to ensure on-time

mechanical completion to meet customer contract sales plan.

o Addressed major safety issues as a result of new process design

using a multi-discipline team. This resulted in a patented

solution and an operational savings of $2MM/year.

o Addressed reactor mechanical integrity issues with vendors to

ensure fabrication defects that resulted in lost productivity would

not occur in the future.

o Responsible for production assets capital investment plan and 3

year shutdown planning cycle for production assets.

o Site Manufacturing Safety Audit Coordinator for $2 billion

expansion at HSC; coordinated multi-discipline teams' safety review

of new process installations from design through startup to ensure

safe operation of new processes.

. Site Process Safety Manager(2005 to 2007):

o Provide site leadership and compliance with OSHA Process Safety

Management Standard 1910.119 and EPA RMP regulation.

o Coordinate audits with Michigan Department of Environmental Quality

as well as internal audits by Dow Corning Global Safety Leadership

Team.

o Coordinate Hazops for new $2 billion dollar chemical plant

expansion and revalidations of existing processes.

Responsibilities included maintaining and developing Layer of

Protection Analysis (LOPA) documents for plant operating Safety

Integrity Systems (SIS).

o Managed weekly MOC meeting with site leadership to approve process

changes. Responsible for improvements in management of change

workflow.

o Led major site operating organizational change from de-centralized

operation to a central control room operation via a benchmark

exercise using outside consultant. This re-organization resulted

in significant labor cost savings and provided operators with more

effective job/equipment focus during a time of high product volume

growth. Led the design effort for a $15MM investment in a

centralized control room operation for a new chlorosilane chemical

complex.

o Led numerous root cause investigation studies for incident

investigations.

. Rubber Supply Chain Quality Reliability Engineer, Kendallville, Indiana

(2001 to 2004):

o Product quality and process reliability engineer for $10MM process

expansion to produce silicone elastomer material for high voltage

insulators.

o Led product quality efforts to reduce reject material by 10% by

resolving "major" customer quality issues through facility

experiments and product trial at customers. Improved quality

accepted material by 20% and implemented a second product line in

this operation to increase asset utilization.

o Designed & executed manufacturing investment to improve plant

productivity by 30%.

o Responsible for maintaining unit cost and unit capital numbers for

manufactured products as part time economic evaluator for reviewing

new business investment..

. Chemical Complex Project Leader(1996 to 1998)

o Responsible for leading two major startup efforts (~$50MM asset)

from construction through performance evaluation and transitioning

operation over to manufacturing. Unit operations included tank

farm operation between the major production facilities,

distillation complex and the new chemical reactor production

facility.

o Successful startup of operation resulted in "record" quality

performance.

o Supervised, mentored and trained ~20 new hire engineers and

operators to support the startup and transition into production

roles after startup. Responsible for operator training, hazop and

design reviews, developing commissioning plan and coordinating day

to day commissioning activities.

o Site economic evaluator responsible for evaluating capital

projects/opportunities to ensure projects meet investment metrics

by Dow Corning/HSC.

Molten Metal Technology LLC, Oak Ridge, TN. (JV with Westinghouse) 1995 to

1996

Nuclear Waste Processing Maintenance Manager

. Leadership responsibility for new $50MM waste process facility.

Responsible for 10 hourly maintenance personnel and 2 salaried

engineers.

. Implemented CMMS system for new site to manage maintenance workflow.

Worked with ECM partner to develop maintenance procedures and spare

part requirements for this plant.

. Provided leadership to manufacturing engineer to properly

manage/implement site process safety management standards and

mechanical integrity review.

. Involved in all aspects of facility construction, checkout,

commissioning, and procedural development and training efforts.

Worked closely with ECM Vendor and equipment fabricators to develop

checkout protocols during the early phases of the project.

. Led reactor maintenance team to ensure reliable and safe operation of

critical reactor system. Batch system had high cost material

consumption to manage vs budgeted costs. Reactors achieved desired

reliability performance.

. Site lead for spare parts inventory and developing inventory criteria

for critical consumables. Worked closely with corporate procurement

and our onsite procurement vendor to properly inventory assets to

maintain a 24/7 processing operation.

Area Production Manager

. HF Alkylation/Hydrotreater/Crude Unit Supervisor. Supervised 20 union

employees. Duties included counseling, training and performance

discipline actions as required. Lead new operator hire training

coordinator. Effectively trained and hired 30 engineers during plant

expansion.

. Prioritize maintenance work to most effectively utilize limited

manpower resources.

. Develop shutdown plans for turnarounds and subsequent commissioning

plans. Track turnaround costs vs plan costs.

. Develop process area budget, tracked unit expenditures on a monthly

basis, addressed over-budget items to minimize department overruns.

Site Manufacturing Engineer

. Implemented Process Safety Management standard for site to comply with

OSHA 1910.119. Duties included updating site procedures, developing

and implementing MOC procedure, completing process unit HAZOP's and

addressing other PSM elements to ensure compliance.

. Refinery precious metal catalyst coordinator for

reforming/hydrotreating catalyst. Controlled and monitored platinum

use and recovery and hydroteater catalyst regeneration and recovery.

Planned, coordinated, and supervised all catalyst turnarounds.

. Completed process safety audit of HF Alkylation unit against industry

standards. Recommended additional inspections and lead mechanical

integrity reviews to ensure plant complied with API752 standard to

achieve the highest level of mechanical integrity. Led new valve

replacement for HF unit to improve isolation reliability. Installed a

double seal flush system on critical pumps to reduce the potential for

a release. Responsible for HF Alkylation unit shutdown planning.

. Startup engineer for $100MM Diesel Hydrotreater complex.

Responsibilities include new construction inspection, commissioning

and procedure development, operating training and process performance

evaluation. Also involved in various startup upgrades to support new

infrastructure - Crude Tankage, High Purity H2 production via membrane

separation, various hydrotreater reactor upgrades.

. Led distillation column tray replacements during outages.

. Responsible for fixed bed naphtha reformer regeneration shutdown

activities. Led regeneration effort, catalyst performance evaluation

efforts, as well as replacing catalyst material.

. Responsible for monitoring reactor unit operations across the site.

Activities included gathering, analyzing and interpreting data to

provide process plant optimization or troubleshooting. Unit Engineer

for Reformer, HF Alkylation, Crude Unit, Sat Gas Plant, various

Hydrotreaters, and Merox Units, Isomerization.

. Development Engineer for new catalyst formulations and new low calorie

sweetener process.

. Improved light end to aromatic catalyst performance to allow

commercial production under tight schedule to meet production window

. Completed ~35 field service projects for customers in technology areas
