*Dental Assisting Program*:

The dental assisting program is divided into three modules, all

of which prepare students for the world of dental assisting. The first

module consists of legal and ethical issues, workplace safety information,

and infection control. This module also includes basic head and neck

anatomy, dental morphology, and an overview of dental instruments/tray

set-ups.

Module two places an emphasis on general practice, four-handed dentistry,

and the production of alginate impressions and plaster models. Accurate

placement of cements, dental dams, amalgam fillings, and composites is also

exercised in this module.

`Although this course does not provide a dental radiation safety

certificate, the third module provides a comprehensive introduction to

intraoral imaging and radiation safety. The third module also includes one

hundred and ten hours of internship in a dental office.

*Internship*:

I completed my internship in the dental clinic at the LAC+USC Medical

Center. I assisted in sterilization, oral surgery, biopsies, irrigation,

panoramic radiographs, jaw fracture wiring, and third molar extractions

while the patient is under IV sedation.
