Mechanical Designer
Work Experience 2014 Laar’s Heating Systems Rochester, New Hampshire
Mechanical Designer/Drafter using Solidworks 14 with Enterprise PDMWorks
• Worked on Mascot and Magnathrm Boilers, Creating Solid models, detail
drawings and Assembly drawings. The Company had a lot of the same parts
being used on other lines of boilers, so using Configurations for
Boms, assembly’s and model components was widely used, (works well).
2012-2014 Analogic Corporation Peabody, Massachuetts
Mechanical Designer/Drafter using Solidworks 14 with Enterprise PDMWorks
• Designed and detailed a Couch/Table that will be in an MRI machine and a
Radiation Treatment Machine.
The tables were 8’ and 10’ long sheetmetal. The design was fastened together
using perms and studs. Designed in a complex belt/pulley arrange-
ment and belt tensioner to move the tabletop into the bore of treatment and
imaging machines.
The purpose of the design was to enable patients to remain in one room for
both imaging and treatment, rather than moving the patient to several rooms,
less stress on patient and reducing treatment time.
2011-2012 FloDesign Wind Turbine Waltham, Massachusetts
Mechanical Designer/Drafter using Solidworks 12 with Windchill PDM
• Designed Modeled and Detail new Wind Turbine Shroud in the shape of a Jet
Engine Shroud that sets around the rotar and blades. Designed Ribs Spares
Struts and brackets for the Flap and Mixer Lobe Assembly’s Modified Shroud
skins with new designs added to the skins areo shape using lofting and rule
features in Solidworks. The work involved was with very complex geometry
shapes.
2011 Freudenberg Nok Northfield, New Hampshire
Mechanical Designer using Solidworksd 11 and Unigraphics NX5
• Designed Gripper plates used to pick and place molded components from a
mold using Unigraphics NX5.
• Designed a Leak test and Engraving machine to inspect and mark seals used
in the automotive industries using Solidworks 11.
2008-2011 American Science and Engineering Billerica, Massachusetts
Mechanical Designer II using Solidworks 10 with Smarteam and AutoCAD 2010
• Assigned to the Cargo Group Inspection Systems for Trucks and Cars.
Vehicles are X-Ray scanned to detect for explosive devices, drugs and illegal
cargo. Responsible for modeling, design, documentation and large assembly
management using configurations, display states and envelopes to control
large assemblies and achieve better performance. Most of the work I was
involved in was with large walk-in sheetmetal enclosures built of sheet metal
and tube steel. Also worked with smaller sheetmetal enclosures and brackets
for electrical components.
• Assigned to the ECOs implementation group.
• Processed ECOs from simple drawing and bom change to complex redesign
change. Responsible for writing ECOs and making changes necessary to
complete project.
2007-2008 Cambric Corporation Wakefield, Massachuetts
Mechanical Designer III using Unigraphics NX4 w/Teamcenter and Solidworks
2007
• Responsible for designing using UG NX 3D models from 2D legacy Data on
Companies A10 Wing Program for the USAF.
• Created all model Data Sets in Teamcenter as well as all Legacy Revision
information.
• Responsible for Electrial/mechanic Machine Device Design and Details using
Solidworks for various Commercial and industrial customers.
2004-2006 Goss International Durham, New Hampshire
Mechanical Designer using UG NX4
• This Company builds large printing presses and folders for the newspaper and
magazine industry.
• Designed sheet metal guarding for drive belts, doors and panels. Built large
assembly layouts using Shafting, bearings, cams, weldments, sheet metal,
etc. Assemblies worked with ranged from 200 to 7000 part assemblies. All
modeling was sketch driven in one file with drafting being done in another file.
2004-2006 DePuy Spine, Johnson & Johnson Raynham, Massachusetts
Designer Designer using UG NX2
• Worked on the Bobcat Cervical Implant project. Involved in the design of new
implants (cage) for cervical area C1 through C7, sizes small, large and Xlarge
implants, height range 18mm through 66mm.
• Designed a new Distracter Implant Inserter, Trials and Bone graft instruments
to go with Bobcat Implants.
• Responsible for accurate cad models, design, assembly and detail drawings
using UG Sketcher with parts families.
2003-2004 Gillette Corporation S. Boston, Massachusetts
Design Designer using UG NX2
• Designed involved castings sheet metal and plastic parts.
• Designed Carrier/Magazine assembly for automatic handling system used for
loading and unloading components to be assembled for a new product line.
• Designs involved design concepts, modeling and drafting of castings, complex
plastic layers, sheet metal machined parts and go/no go gages.
2002-2003 DePuy Spine, Johnson & Johnson Raynham, Massachusetts
Designer Designer using UG V18
• Designed a Bone Marrow Aspiration Handle made of plastic with stainless
steel needle, which extracts bone marrow from the hip area.
• Designed a new generation of concentrator which is a mixer for bone marrow,
saline and a blood clotting solution that is formed into a gel which is inserted
into the spinal column area to fuse together with bone.
• All designs involved complex plastics components.
2001-2002 Hitchiner Manufacturing Amherst, New Hampshire
Mechanical Designer/Drafter using UG V18
• Designed wax molds for the aerospace and automotive industries. Wax molds
are designed to produce ceramics on ring molds which then creates a metal
casting.
• Designed single, double and quadruple cavity molds with manual and
pneumatic ejection systems, side action with wedge and cam pins, balanced
feeders etc. Work involved shrink prints: building customer models from
supplied prints, then proceeding with designing the mold to customer
specifications.
