Responsibilities:
- As a Technical Advisor/Manager was responsible for
research, overall design, implementation and maintenance of
front-end, Content Management, Data Entry and Validation
environments, Customer Service, and other systems for this
online food-ordering internet start-up. Using Agile
methodology and utilizing skills and methodologies obtained
while working with big corporate clients, along with the
team of offshore programmers/consultants I was able to
quickly build the entire website and quality control
procedures.
Tools used: Basecamp, Jira, Join.me, Office365, Box.com,
Twilio, Phaxio, oDesk, Rackspace, GoFormz.
10/2005 - 5/2013 ConEdison
Programmer/Analyst
Responsibilities:
- As a contractor and technical leader, worked on 4
"obsolete" technology elimination projects as well as
multiple other projects, including New Case Management
system.
- Utilizing the automated conversion tool, various ConEdison
Systems still using PL/I, RAMIS and other old programming
languages are being gradually replaced by latest COBOL-DB2-
IMS platform. Moving to a modern platform with state-of-the-
art development tools provides faster maintenance changes,
access to a wider and more affordable pool of technical
talent.
- Technically leading the group of contractors, was involved
in conversion of 4 Systems. Converted PET (Portable
Electronic Terminal System) and DEMS (Distribution
Equipment Management System) from PL/I to Enterprise
COBOL/IMS and CORS (Commercial Operations Reporting System)
and ECS (Emergency Control System) from RAMIS to COBOL/DB2.
As in previous conversion efforts, was involved in all
aspects of conversion process from analysis and environment
setup to program remediation, query tune-up, QA and
maintenance.
Environment: Enterprise COBOL for z/OS, JCL, SPUFI,
RC/Update, File-AID, XPEDITER, Word, Excel, File-AID,
SuperC, Beyond Compare utility.
10/2004 - 10/2005 PCH (Publishers Clearing House)
Programmer/Analyst
Responsibilities:
- As a consultant for PCH IS department, was involved in the
Marketing Groups so called Beta Elimination Conversion
Project. The goal of this project was to convert all
statistical SAS programs called models' into Batch
Enterprise COBOL/DB2 programs making the overall process
faster and more flexible. With more than one hundred DB2
tables, some of them with over 1 billion rows, this system
is one of the most complicated of its kind.
- Wrote a compact standalone process for Name and Address
system (NAD) and Refunds Interface process for Billing and
Lawson.
- Responsibilities included SAS code variables analysis,
elimination of non-processing steps, COBOL program coding,
debugging and comparing result sets of the old SAS programs
with new COBOL, explaining the differences, tuning up SQL
queries, documenting and reporting the work progress.
- Provided technical advice to programmers unfamiliar with
DB2, because unlike the old variable length flat file only
process, the new COBOL method also accesses large volume
DB2 tables, where data is arranged by the relational model
rules.
Environment: Enterprise COBOL, JCL, JOB/SCAN, SPUFI, File-
AID, XPEDITER, Interactive SAS, Word, Excel, File-AID
COMPARE, SuperC, and ENDEVOR, FTP.
09/2003 - 9/2004 DTCC (Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation)

Settlement applications and associated services hosted at
Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC) in order
to reduce costs and create a single consolidated
infrastructure for Clearance and Settlement of securities
transactions.
- Was responsible for all phases of conversion process of 3
systems - Billing, CAD and settlement. Corporate Actions
Database System or CAD is a DB2 based system with
PowerBuilder Interface, designed to process dividend and
interest distributions on corporate equities and corporate
debt. The Billing System (Batch and CICS) is also DB2
based, it runs under several high level qualifiers and
consists of information emanating from virtually every
production system that requests in monthly billables to
DTCC participants. Settlement is a File/Batch COBOL
Application that provides a payment vehicle for firms to
pay commission charges to brokers for executions done on
the NYSE and AMEX floors. These three systems together use
more than 500 jobs and 100 tables. Was also involved in
migration of Correspondent Clearing (COR) System, Index
Products (SPD/FCB) and Direct Clearing System (DCS).
- Was responsible for all steps of conversion - determined
and documented inventory of system components, identified
cross-system dependencies, created application overview
documents, requested access authorization (RACF, TRANID,
DB2 Plans, Views etc.) and data transfers, submitted all
kinds of requests for Test and Production, CICS and Batch,
identified obsolete and missing components,
recompiled/bound programs, modified JCLs and PROCs,
conducted unit and end-to-end testing, suggested data
movement, created comparison jobs, replicated schedule,
created test plan and chart of the job flow, worked closely
with CA-7 group to resolve scheduling issues, conducted
shakedown and parallel system runs in Production, monitored
results. Participated in the creation of decommission
documents and initial maintenance of migrated applications.
