GENERAL JOB D ESCR IP T IO N

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

• Responsible for the patients imaging procedure with an independent

j udgment which the work involves, mammography, f luoroscopic procedure,

bone mineral densitometry (BMD), conventional radiography, ultrasound,

portable radiography.

• Working under the direction of the radiologist in performing duties

d irectory involved with the variety of technical procedures to provide

quality radiographs.

• Responsible for producing high quality diagnostic images of patients in

assigned areas ensuring a high level of patients care and safety.

• Responsible for filming, archiving, documentation of procedures and

patients path in appropriate records and universal medical precautions.

• Responsible for checking and documenting patient history and has

patients sign the consent (if necessary) especially those patients will

u ndergo special procedures with contrast and explain the procedure and

t he possible respond nor effect of the contrast media.

• Practice universal medical precautions and properly dispose infecting

m aterials into bio hazard containers.

• Responsible for doing portable x-ray especially for the bed r idden patients

u n able to reached the main radiology department by applying (ALARA)

t echnique for public safety.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIL IT IES

• Display a high degree of technical knowledge for the safety use of the

equipments required in order to perform general x-rays.

• Display a high level of skill in general radiography.

• Independently analyze requests for x-ray examinations with regards to the

appropriates with respects to the presentation of the patients and their

condition.

• Take personal responsibility for the observance of ionizing radiation. Thus

p reventing any unnecessary ionizing radiation exposure of patients.

• Prior to perform a radiographic examination, the patient’s previous

r adiology history must be investigated as the Departmental Radiology

I nformation System.

• Register any new patients identification details in the RIS (Radiology

I nformation System)

• Works as part of a team to ensure the continued delivery of high standard

patient care.

• Prioritize work load, depending on the high severity of the patient direct

i mpact on their management.

• Liaise regularly on a daily basis with fellow health care workers and

referring clinicians to provide a high quality imaging service.
