Rick Eyerdam is an award-winning journalist and editor currently completing an epic research project, the definitive history of NASA’s 60 year quest for life in space. He is also editor and publisher of the Southeast Shipping News, an on-line source of insight about trade, transportation, security and logistics in the Southeastern United States, the Caribbean Basin and Latin America.

            He is a former editor of Florida Shipper Magazine and correspondent for the Journal of Commerce and the other publications that once made up the Journal of Commerce Shipper Group.

            He is also former editor and publisher of The Boating News and former editor of Southern Boating Magazine and the Marine Business Journal.

            Earlier Eyerdam was news editor at South Florida Business Journal.  Prior to joining SFBJ, Eyerdam was managing editor of Miami/ South Florida Magazine.

            Mr. Eyerdam has served as an adjunct professor of communications at Florida InternationalUniversity

            He served as press secretary for William A. Meadows, Elmer Friday and Senator Lawton Chiles. He was aide to Rep. Murray Dubbin and staff director of the Rules Committee, Joint Legislative Management and the Dade Delegation in the Florida House of Representatives. He was a political reporter, investigative reporter and Tallahassee bureau chief for the Miami News and Palm Beach Times.

            He was Florida correspondent for the Dow Jones, National Observer. He was White House reporter, among other assignments, for the National Enquirer. He was consulting editor for Hemisphere, the journal of the Florida International University Center for the Study of Central and South America. 

            Eyerdam graduated from Florida State University with a double major in English Literature and Government.

            An avid sportsman, boater and champion tournament fisherman, he is the founder and first president of the Florida Keys Artificial Reef Association.

- Founded and designed Sea Hawk Guide to the Florida Keys.

- Founded and designed Ability Magazine, a national general interest magazine for the disabled

- Researched, wrote and designed the Official Guide to the State of Florida, for the Florida Department of Commerce, managed advertising sales. Also wrote the Dade County Convention Visitor’s Bureau Guide to Miami and the Beaches.

- Researched and designed the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute 25th anniversary book.

- Redesigned The Boating News, founded and designed Marine Business Digest and Coastal Boating Lifestyles
