Accounting Strategist & Technology Guru:

Outsourced CFO & Controller, Cash Flow Forecaster, Entrepreneur Consultant

2011 – Present

TIER ONE SERVICES, LLC

Lawrenceville, NJ and Rock Hill, SC

A small management accounting firm providing virtual CFO and controller services to small

businesses across the country.

Chief Financial Officer

Evolved the company from an IT services startup into a management accounting startup, launching

new lines of service, hiring billable practitioners and an administrative assistant, establishing strategic

relationships, referral sources and marketing channels, and earning the business of small, dramatically

growing enterprises from coast to coast.

My contributions have been in three main areas:

Executive financial leadership including funding strategies, internal financial modeling, budgeting,

and cash flow forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, strategic alliances, business development,

internal controls, and contract oversight and negotiation

Practitioner management including hiring and supervising a 3-person accounting team, managing

engagements, training finance and accounting team, designing compensation structure, executing

payroll and employee benefits

Engagement fulfillment including financial modeling, accounting system conversions,

entrepreneurship development programs, personal financial coaching, and QuickBooks and Excel

training

The achievements I’m most proud of include:

Creating a suite of forward-looking finance tools for management including a dynamic financial

model, executive dashboard, rolling budget, live cash flow forecast, and ad hoc analysis.

Redesigning a client’s dynamic cash flow forecast model to include the ability to manage internal

budgeting for 4 departments. Trained the client’s VP Finance and a Tier One Services Controller

Consultant on the advanced Excel techniques and programming used in the model.

Providing CFO and Controller services to transforming a client’s business from a struggling

operation into a financially sustainable enterprise. We created strategic alliances, repackaged and

repriced the core product offering, created an executive dashboard, implemented more accurate

accounting procedures, redesigned the employee compensation model, and strategically grew the

staff. The company’s monthly revenues have increased by 2-4x and expenses have stabilized.

Training my team on advanced accounting and technology techniques to help clients find lost cash.

My team identified checks cashed twice by a vendor, uncollected receivables buried in the records,

and savings opportunities.

2003 - 2013

BARTOLOMEI PUCCIARELLI, LLC

(Merged into Hill, Barth, and King in November ’13)

Lawrenceville, NJ

Director of Specialized Services

Starting out in 2003 as an Accountant with traditional duties including income tax, payroll tax, sales

tax, bookkeeping, audits, compilations, and reviews, I earned a promotion a few years later to Senior

Accountant. I worked with both for-profit and not-for-profit companies. My not-for-profit work

included conducting independent audits and consulting on budgeting, use of technology, and

accounting principles and practices in accordance with GAAP.

Over time, I developed a special niche in accounting technologies and, with the firm’s support, earned

certifications in the Microsoft Office suite, including Certified Excel Expert. I then became a Microsoft

Certified Trainer, Certified Technical Trainer and Certified QuickBooks Professional Advisor.

During this stage of my career I negotiated a great deal of independence within the firm and developed

new lines of business including financial statement modeling, social media technology consulting,

QuickBooks consulting, and QuickBooks and Excel training.

After I negotiated a promotion and creation of a brand-new role that we called Director of Specialized

Services, I brought in more business and managed relationships while continuing to expand my

professional skillset. Ultimately, I led outsourced accounting teams and was engaged for client

teambuilding, accounting process consulting, and sophisticated financial modeling work as well as

special projects that required much more creativity than traditional CPA work.

My favorite projects included:

Creating financial statement models and cap tables which raised $20M, $4M, $3.5M, and more

Accelerating completion of repetitive projects for multiple clients by an average of 60% with

redesigned Excel-based budgeting and pricing tools

Conducting analysis for a medical practice to reveal practitioner profitability, wasted time, and

missed revenue opportunities ready to be reclaimed

Redesigning a client’s accounting system to reveal $20K of employee fraud

Saving a client $15K/year by converting them to QuickBooks and training the team

2008-2011

PRINCETON ADULT SCHOOL

Princeton, NJ

Business Technology Instructor

Through this very popular community program, I taught hands-on courses in QuickBooks, Excel,

Word, and PowerPoint to professionals and entrepreneurs. The intermediate and advanced QuickBooks

courses included PivotTables, PowerPivot, VLOOKUP, macros, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA),

form controls, and more.

Jaime Campbell, CPA, CGMA, MBA, CTT, MCT – 3

2008 - 2009

KEAN UNIVERSITY

Toms River, NJ and Union, NJ

Adjunct Professor

Taught graduate and undergraduate accounting coursework: “Computerized Financial Systems and

Procedures” and “Financial Accounting.” Despite a rigorous, self-designed curriculum and testing,

most students in both classes earned an A due to attaining mastery in their topics. We created an

engaged, positive atmosphere with a great deal of support, opportunities to succeed, innovative

learning methods, and high standards.

2001-2002

BARTLE SCHOOL

Highland Park, NJ

Vocal Music Specialist

After successfully proposing a school-wide schedule redesign to optimize Special Area learning, I

expanded the chorus to increased participation from approximately 30 to 200 members. I also

instituted the school’s first auditioned vocal ensemble, which featured eight young people singing

music in three- and four-part harmony far above their grade levels.

I expanded the curriculum from singing and listening to include composing, writing, reading, body

percussion, rhythmic chants, rhythmic harmony, and authentic music from various world cultures

including China and Ghana.

1998-2001

PLEASANT HILL ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Kissimmee, FL

Music Specialist

Although I didn’t realize it at the time, this is where I first learned entrepreneurial leadership. I

developed new, original music programs and taught over 1,500 children to create, listen, read,

compose, improvise, and perform music. I also held the school’s first Drum-a-Thon to purchase new

drums from around the world.

In my first experience with influence and market interruption, I was the catalyst for the dramatic

improvement in the quality of two high-visibility county choral programs.

During this time, I also gained my first experiences with large-impact programs and leadership

collaboration. I co-conducted the Orlando Children’s Chorus, which was the feature choir for Disney

World’s World Largest Concert during the late nineties.
