Informational and Communication Services: I am a

disease/therapeutic expert in Emergency Medicine (includes

expertise in all the medical and surgical therapeutic areas); Pain

Management; Rheumatology, Immunology; Cardiology;

Gastroenterology; Pulmonology; Infectious Disease, Orthopedics;

Oncology; Dermatology; Neurology and Neurosurgery;

Anesthesiology; Urology and Women’s Health etc. I had the

responsibility as the ER attending to teach, instruct, in service

every physician, medical resident/intern, medical and nursing

student and all other ER ancillary staff on every single new

pharmaceutical product or medical device that went on a clinical

research trial in the ER; Taking part in a primary position in all

pharmaceutical trials that took place in the ER along with assisting

on publications and their presentation at conferences, at scientific

meetings and in journal articles. Answering questions and

providing information to every patient, family member, admitting

attending physician, and to every community interest group.

Regulatory Review: Was responsible to be sure that everything

written or reported on was in line with the policies, rules and

regulations of the FDA, that included all papers, handouts and case

reports.

Liaison: Liaison to hospital and community health care

professionals, hospital and community professional organizations

and disease state advocacy groups. I worked to support the efforts

of community professional associations, patient support groups,

and educational foundations.

Thought leader development: I provided information and other

supports to community physicians who were recognized experts in

their various fields (KOLs or Key Opinion Leaders)

Educational meeting support: When it was previously permitted,

I assisted in the presentation of CME courses involving the ER in

our therapeutic area.

Supporting marketing: As the representative from the ER to the

hospital, I provides scientific input and expertise in ER and all

associated therapeutic areas in the design and construction of all

promotional materials and events put out and put on by the hospital

administration. I reviewed all appropriate materials for scientific

accuracy prior to their replication and distribution.

R & D: Pertaining to those studies involving my ER, I assisted in

all stages of clinical research development study design, initiation

and monitoring. Phases I-IV

Post market drug safety functions / Pharmacovigilance: - I

would write up reports on any and all adverse events that took

place during either the introduction of a new pharmaceutical or one

taking place during a clinical trial. I then would make the official

verbal report to the particular Pharma Company.

Medical liaison - I would meet with every MSL or RML that

would come by from various pharmaceutical and medical device

companies. We would discuss the product science, recent

publications and purposes. I would always ask about their function

in their medical affairs department along with the workings of their

department.
