PROJECT PROFILE:
Project: FLUE GAS DETECTION AND NULLIFICATION USING PLC
Used Technology: PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROL (PLC)
Description:
In this model different gases are detected with the help of gas
leak detectors and some electronic devices which detect the presence of gas
and physical parameters in the furnace like carbon monoxide, flue gases,
temperature etc.., etc. and depending on the quantity of gases present in
the furnace it performs the respective operations like add some other gases
making the content to form a new compound which is less harmful compared to
other gases because dilution is best solution for pollution
In this project the carbon monoxide gas content can be nullified by
adding the oxygen gas through a inlet. As this carbon monoxide release is a
hazardous condition this hazardous condition is indicated to us through
alarm system. If the concentration of flue gas, carbon monoxide is very
high then solenoid valve operates and oxygen content enters into the
furnace by receiving the control signal from PLC. The remaining parameters
like temperature and flue gases are measured continuously through different
sensors placed inside the furnace.

Description:
Fire and Gas safety system continuously monitors for abnormal
situations such as a fire, or combustible or toxic gas release within the
plant; and provides early warning and mitigation actions to prevent
escalation of the incident and protect the process or environment. By
implementing an integrated fire and gas strategy based on the latest
automation technology, plants can meet their plant safety and critical
infrastructure protection requirements while ensuring operational and
business readiness at project start-up.
Fire and Gas detection systems have a major role to play in preventing
escalation, and this paper shows how a simple fire and safety is made in a
sector of industry. It comprises of different sensors detecting, alerting
and controlling the gas leakages.
This project mainly describes about safety systems in an oil industry
and how a gas leak is detected using various detectors. It also comprises
of how the detectors function and their testing methods. After the
detection the F&G system using DCS monitors the hazardous situation by
alarming the personnel and at the final state in case of emergency the way
the Emergency Shutdown Systems functions to avoid the disastrous situations
providing safety to the life and the environment.
