ACADEMIC PROJECT

TOPIC : REDUCTION OF EROSION IN AIR NOZZLE OF CIRCULATING

FLUIDIZED BED COMBUSTION BOILER

OBJECTIVE : To reduce the erosion occurring in the air nozzle of Circulating Fluidized

Bed Combustion Boiler where the nozzle gets eroded due to t he blockage caused by the

deposition of the bed material in the refractory layer due to insufficient clearance between the

fourth row and the refractory layer.

SOLUTION : Erosion is reduced by hardfacing the nozzle with the electrode Eutec Trode

XHD6715 which has higher hardness. Thus the hardness of the air nozzle is increased and

consequently, the erosion is reduced.

INPLANT TRAINING

Underwent five days training at “TUTICORIN THERMAL POWER STATION

(TTPS)”, TUTICORIN.
