ACADEMIC PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
. Combination Ironing and Folding Machine: Utilized SolidWorks and ANSYS to
modify designs of existing ironing and folding equipment to produce a
single automated machine for household use; machine employs 2 iron plates
with steam releasing pores, several motors, crank and shaft mechanism,
ellipse mechanism, and heat transfer convection process to iron clothes
as they are folded. Material selection using matrix analysis, supported
prototype and designing.
. Pull-Down Dining Table: Created 3D model via SolidWorks for a wall-
mounted table that uses the same principles as an upside down garage door
and murphy bed, disappearing into a wall when not in use while covered by
a large painting or other piece of art; applied concepts of garage door
spring mechanisms as well as drawer rollers and channels to develop final
design.
. Solid Model of Guitar Stand: Gained valuable experience in functionality
of Creo by revising design of existing guitar stand and altering
materials to formulate a visual 3D model.
. 7-Segment LED Display: Learned features of IDEC PLC software and
constructed a 7-segment light including logic functions "NOT," "OR," and
"AND" as well as timers, counters, comparison functions, and interlocking
strategy.
