Design an automatically tuning system to calibrate the powered prosthesis

• Integrate the Matlab based expert system with the Labview based control system of powered

prosthesis to automatically tuning the control parameter in real-time;

University of Rhode Island Kingston, RI Fall 2011

Stumble study of tranfemoral amputee

• Build a testing environment for stumble study for amputee patient in gait lab, and use motion

capture system to study the subject’s recovery strategy;

Design a portable laser-based terrain recognition system

• Design a laser-IMU based portable terrain recognition system to detect different upcoming

terrain like level ground, up/down ramp, up/down stair, and use it as prior knowledge to

improve the control of powered prostheses;
