PG PROJECT

. Compositional analysis of minerals using infrared thermography

(National

Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur)

An infrared thermography based technique for the compositional

analysis of iron ores consisting of alumina-rich particles of

relatively low thermal absorptivity as compared to iron-rich particles

in the ores. When heated in microwave the alumina-rich particles are

heated up less compared to iron-rich particles and the alumina content

can be easily determined by analysing the thermal image of these ores.

A software has been developed in labview to predict the alumina content

by entering the average temperature obtained from analyzing the thermal

image.

UG PROJECT

. Modification of coal feeding system ( Hindustan Newsprint Limited)

The existing coal feeding conveyor system has been studied. A

proposal to make it more efficient and more economical by replacing

some of the conveyors by a new conveyor has been made. Cost beneficial

analysis has been done and a payback period of five and a half years

was found out.
