Objective

Obtain a challenging new in house executive level position in the Labor Relations and

Employee Relations arena where I can utilize my experience in both union and non-union

environments to help guide an organization and its staff through the ever changing labor

and employment landscape.

Background

Legal professional with nearly thirty years of experience representing and counseling

more than 75 governmental entities and small businesses in labor relations, employment,

union avoidance, and many related matters, including the management and direction of

several concurrent engagements and the associate attorneys assigned to their

representation.

Personal negotiation and direction of collective bargaining on more than 400 collective

bargaining agreements in both the public and private sector, prosecution of more than 100

labor arbitrations, SERB, NLRB, OCRC, and EEOC hearings on behalf of employers, in

addition to related matters in state and federal courts.

Representation and counseling of governmental entities in the areas of education

(schools), public safety (police, fire, paramedics), public service (infrastructure

maintenance & related areas), and private employers in the satellite and cable industry,

concrete, product identification, plastics, tool & die, fabrication, and related industries.

Successfully negotiated concessionary bargaining agreements on behalf of over 10 Ohio

school districts which had been placed in ?fiscal emergency? by the Ohio Department of

Education, pursuant to pertinent Ohio statues. These districts included Cleveland,

Youngstown, Massillon, Olmsted Falls, Brooklyn and others.

Management and direction of associate attorneys during pendency of several concurrent

representational matters to ensure compliance with developed case strategy, success on

the issues, and maintenance of client relations.

Summary

Personal negotiation and direction of collective bargaining on more than 400 collective

bargaining agreements in both the private and public sector, prosecution of more than 100

labor arbitrations, NLRB and EEOC hearings on behalf of employers, in addition to

related matters in state and federal courts, and administrative agencies.

Negotiated a concessionary agreement on behalf of a manufacturer against the

USW after a 12 week strike and imposition of the company?s final offer,

which resulted in a permanent reduction in personnel and increase in

profitability.

Hands on negotiation against the Carpenter?s union on behalf of 2 mill

working companies who withdrew from a multi-employer agreement,

terminating with a strike and concessionary contracts.

Negotiation of a busing sub-contract against the Teamsters on behalf of a

national transportation company during an ongoing and violent strike with

the use of replacement employees.

Negotiation to impasse without an agreement (initial) against the UE on

behalf of a major installer of satellite TV for a national provider.

Several contract negotiations against Teamsters on behalf of ready mix

concrete company resulting in reduced labor and benefit costs.

Successful negotiation of concessionary bargaining agreements on behalf of

over 10 Ohio school districts in the late 1990?s, including Cleveland,

which had been placed in ?fiscal emergency? by the Ohio Department of

Education, pursuant to pertinent Ohio statues. Two of these engagements

involved teacher strikes, and the employment of replacement teachers.

Personal development of bargaining proposals upon establishment of

bargaining strategy after consultation with clients regarding operational,

economic, and other ?political? considerations.

Aptitude for earning respect of employee organizations due to ability to

satisfactorily resolve grievances and other disputes in a timely manner and

short of arbitration.

Ability to recognize and avoid collateral issues which tend to adversely

impact client customers.
