K T I nspection
Sub-Station I nspector
Ama rillo, TX
*-*-**** – present
I nspector for K T I nspection, inspecting the Sub-Station construction and
a dditions for Ecel Energy. Worked on the civil end as well as the electric.
Worked better on the electr ic side because I seemed to do a better job
because my judgment was not cloudy by preconception. A lot of the guys
t hat had worked on electric construction in the past missed small things
o n the p rints. I have seen several cases in the past which seemed to be
caught up in “that’s the way we have always done it” and missed small
t hings on the prints. Sometimes the small things missed on the pr ints can
cause hours, if not days delay. By biggest thing on Sub-Station I nspection
is the safety. I take my morning safety meetings very serious. The dangers
i n a Sub-Station are at every tu rn and all safety measures must be followed
by everyone.

I n charge of the I nspection Depa rtment for Garden City and Finney
County. The City of Garden City owned its own Power Company. We built
t h ree new Sub-Station and installed a 3.5 Megawatt gas fired generator. At
t he preconstruction meeting, we explained that I must sign off on each
p hase of the construction, or they could not proceed. I committed to be on
site for 10 hours per week, but I was there over twenty hours du r ing the
c ivil and almost full time when the steel and equipment was being
i nstalled. I was there to inspect the di r t wor k, conduit and gas line
i nstallation. Was there for all the footing and foundation pours and
i nspected the rebar and concrete. When the steel erection started I was on
site full time, till all the buss, switches, breakers, t ransformer and
generator was installed and tested. The job went very smooth and even
t he thi rd par ty inspector said he appreciated me being there and work ing
w ith me.
