EPA / Team Building

I have a strong track record of accomplishment and wide-ranging

manufacturing management experience in electronics, fabricated metal, wood

products, plastics and oilfield equipment. Skilled in problem-solving,

improving operating efficiencies, controlling costs and development/launch

of new products. I can quickly contribute by:

< Reengineering processes to reduce labor and operating costs

< Implementing Lean Manufacturing to improve plant performance

< Managing new product development to drive sales and profits

< Leading cross-functional teams to increase customer satisfaction

I have been described as a strong manager who leads by example and

encourages top performance by creating a positive and team-oriented work

environment. Hardworking, high energy level, competitive, used to long

hours.

Selected Accomplishments

Kaizen Event $600k. Amazon Fulfillment Center's inbound receiving dock was

not 5S'd for FIFO of vendor freight. Organized and led a Kaizen team to

achieve FIFO of vendor freight including the removed of 30' of conveyor on

the sort line resulting in over $600,000 in labor savings by reducing dock

labor by a total of 12 associates over 4 shifts.

OT reduction resulting in over $560K in savings. Lectrus' non-linear demand

required excessive OT to meet Customer deliveries. Implemented a 6-day

work schedule to eliminate 32% overtime in the electrical department.

Cut on-site labor costs $1M. Jacobs was facing unrealistic demand for

skilled labor on construction of a new sulfur recovery plant in Canada.

Surveyed 35 modular piping fabricators as best cost-saving alternative.

Selected and contracted four suppliers to build 120 modularized skids,

eliminating significant labor costs at job site.

Reduced operating costs $250K. Obrist Americas lost a major contract and

needed to reduce direct labor costs. As Plant Manager, assembled cross-

functional team to realign production operations and scheduling. Post-

implementation of 12 major changes, labor and operating costs were cut 20%.

Introduced Lean Manufacturing to cut scrap & rework 12%. EcoQuest had worn-

out equipment and outdated manufacturing methods. Implemented Lean concepts

in a 3-step plan to revitalize plant and production. After upgrades,

employee morale skyrocketed, scrap & rework were reduced and quality issues

dropped 40%.

Streamlined new product development. EcoQuest marketing wanted a stream of

new products. Developed a new system to speed-up design, pilot, prototyping

and rapid production startup. Installed a dashboard tool and established

gates to control process. Introduced 9 new product lines in 2 years to

increase sales 30%.

Reorganized packaging operation to save $350K. Competition was putting

intense pressure on Portola gross margins. As GM, teamed-up with

engineering and maintenance to move secondary equipment downstream and

eliminate two assembly areas. Created innovative machine work centers and

cut 28 direct labor positions.

Improved customer satisfaction with TQM. Annual customer satisfaction

surveys at Portola showed room for improvement. Deployed Lean methods,

Kaizen, Kanban, 5S and elements of Toyota Production System to map and

measure steady quality year-to-year gains. Attained ISO certification.

Improved quality rating to record 90%.
