Description :

Micro BTS is a small all in one BTS optimized for outdoor micro-cell

environment.

The product design, h/w and s/w, is based on the Flexi Macro multimode

platform which currently supports both 3G and LTE. Flexi Macro h/w

supports also GSM/EDGE the technology Single-Box Flexi will support

initially is 3G and Now platform supports LTE also. Support for other

technologies later like GSM/EDGE and LTE-TD are not excluded. GSM/EDGE

support can be done with a s/w upgrade for the same band. Main need for

this BTS is for coverage and capacity enhancements both outdoors and

indoors. The BTS is small enough to be used also as a Pico- BTS e.g. in

public premises like in airports and stations.

Role and responsibilities :

2. Macrocell BTS

Description :

It is the transport module of 3G BTS. The basic functionality of the

product is call processing and sending, receiving and forwarding of Data

and voice Traffic. Flexi System Module is a transmission sub-module that

provides the physical IuB interface towards the Radio Network Controller

(RNC). The IuB interface towards RNC shall be Ethernet, PDH (E1/T1) or

Flexi bus. The testing is carried out on IP and ATM data traffics over

these IuB interfaces. There are several additional features like BFD,

Ethernet OAM, ATM over Ethernet, Top, SyncE, OSPF, MLPPP, RSTP,

IMA, IP filtering, VLAN Traffic Differentiations, QoS, Ethernet

switching, Performance monitoring, Fault management, TWAMP, Proxy ARP

to ensure the quality and security of the data transmission.

In the current release project focused on the Transport Software

residing inside the BTS which acts as a Gateway between the BTS Flexi

Signal modules and the 3G RNC
