EDUCATION
M.Sc., Organic Chemistry, 2004
University of New Brunswick, Department of Chemistry, Fredericton, Canada
Thesis: "Synthetic Studies Towards the Manzamine Alkaloids"
Advisor: Professor David I. MaGee
The manzamine alkaloids are complex polycyclic marine-derived natural
products which exhibit a diverse range of bioactivities including
cytotoxicity, anti-tuberculosis, anti-malarial and anti-insecticidal
activities. An asymmetric synthesis of an advanced intermediate was
achieved in 21 steps with very good overall yield and stereoselectivity.
